2011 Ultima GTR
If I didn't care about the depreciation I'd buy a C63 coupe and spend the balance on modifications. At least that way its a) unique to me and b) done in my way. My car, my wheels, my interior, my widebody, my mods, everything great. That's why I sold my C63 to buy a GTR (not a Nissan) and am building it all with my hands to my spec

im so glad i read this post. 125k omg. i was worried about not having the best c series when i bought my coupe p31 (it just bothers me lol) but after seeing the price, i would never pay 50k more for that. its cool for sure but i thought they would be more like 90k.
in light of that....im very happy with my purchase.
i could turn my c63 coupe into a black series for less than half that. or you can just wait tell its resale value plummets like the clk63 bs did and nab one for 80k.

Also, FWIW, the C63 BS comes loaded with everything the C63 Coupe can option out, at 110-115k (The $125k figure was out the door with tax). To compare a C63 Coupe, with the performance and premium packages, it works out to $80k. That would make the difference 30-35k.
Pretty unrealistic to expect a Black Series to come in at $10k over a loaded C63 Coupe, considering the # of changes between the 2 cars.

Never buy new? All cars depreciate, it depends if you like that new car smell or not and if you don't mind watching your dream car drive by for a year or so while you watch from the sidelines.
It's not that money is no object, in fact it is the oposite, we all have choices.
I choose not to eat so I can put gas in my cars

Why not wait and check out the 2012 E63 Biturbo.. A tune on that thing is going to be deadly.. Same price too.
BS is exclusive, but that is a pretty penny.
All AMGs lose 50% of their value in the first 2 years according to the lease residual i am told.

You're not buying a C63 BS for straight line speed, so I don't see why you would cross shop an E63. 2 totally different cars.
The E63 rapes a C63 P31/APX, and most likely a C63 BS. Pretty awesome car if straight line speed is a high priority.

Rage. You really think an E63 would be faster straight line than a bs. I agree with you about straight line speed. If I was concerned I would just buy a GTR and be done with it.

The C63's felt slow compared to the E63 and CLS63. The difference might be closer at sea level, but at our elevation here (3700ft), the turbo motor puts down at least 100hp more than the normally aspirated C63. To put things in perspective, I ran some 100-200 runs with my CLK BS (stock), my C63 AMG (chipped 500hp), and a buddy's C63 P31 (480hp) in early summer. The 3 cars were dead even. When I picked up a 996TT Tiptronic (stock 420hp), it walked my C63. Turbos rule up here in the mountains!

The turbo motors will be wild especially when the aftermarket gets ahold of them. I'm sure the next gen C AMG will get the 5.5. For now I'd say enjoy the NA 6.3 while you can! I'd way prefer a BS to a big car like an E or a CLS.

C63 Coupe Black Series
The C63 BS will be the best handling Merc ever built bar none, including the SLS. Along with the SLS BS, it will also be the last hurrah for the 6.2 NA V8, one of the greatest engines ever made.
To compare this car with a barge like the E63 is pointless. Like arguing that a Panamera Turbo is better than a GT3 because its faster in a straight line...

BTW .... the "BEST" handling Mercedes ever, is the current F1 car. The "BEST" handling Mercedes ever (road legal), is a CLK GTR.

I doubt that ...... The SLS weighs less, has more power, better transmission, lower center of gravity and better weight distribution due to a transaxle. Not really fair to compare both cars. The C63 BS will be a nice car, but is still based on a mass produced chassis. It will also depend greatly on how the car will be spec'd. Base cars will not be that fast around a track without the optional aero package and newly designed Dunlop R's.

I will take issue though with the SLS. Transmission is the same. Too many ponies for the chassis in my experience. If traction in the E is a dead loss, the SLS is even worse. Thats why the GT3 is so good - right balance and drivetrain for the chassis. You can have too much of a good thing. Lets see...

Haven't seen a C63 BS yet. It's joining the Performance Tour in November, first stop in Florida. Wish I could make it, but I'll probably be overseas. Would love to drive it!
Yea, I've been making a lot of comparisons to the CLK BS, mainly because I haven't driven the C63 BS, but I'm assuming it's identical to the CLK BS but with a better transmission.
I ran 305's on my CLK BS, and had zero wheelspin off the line. With a good launch on the C63 which gets tons of wheelspin in 1st, it was close, so wheelspin just makes it a little harder. The E63's were traction limited all the way to 3rd gear down the strip, didn't matter, was still a lot faster.

Ha ha, very good. Lets stick to road cars here so forget the F1 and for any normal non billionaire human being, the CLK GTR. Like saying the best handling Porsche ever was the GT1 (correct but irrelevant).

Proper drivers car that goes round corners+ KW coilovers++
Special enough to match or exceed my GT3. NA engine response key...

Typically speaking, delivery for Canada happens 12-16 weeks after the build date (when the whole process starts at the factory). All depends on parts supplies, shipping schedules, etc.
In terms of options, I went with B25 (diff cooling + tires), and 752 Matte Black wheels.

To the OP, you can always do what some of us did with the CLK63 Black. Let someone else take the 40% depreciation hit while driving it 1-2k miles a year. Then pick it up in 30 months in the upper 60's, low 70's. It is hard to wrap your head around paying $125k for something that few people (without the aero kit) will know is anything more than the base C-Class coupe.
It's all a matter of perspective. To me, I would not have paid the original $140k for the CLK63 Black Series, but for $85k its a bargain. On the other hand, I think $200 for a reasonably optioned new SLS is perfectly acceptable.
You've come to the right place for confirmation bias if that's what you're looking for, but ultimately you have to do what I have done on many occasions. Try to make the decision in a vacuum of opinion and decide if my heart or my head is winning the argument. In all seriousness, there is no logical/rational argument for cars like the C63 Black, only emotion.

Mercedes C63 amg, Bmw X5,
Yea, no contest. We were racing 'em on the dragstrip at the AMG Performance Tour a week ago. The new E63's and CLS63's have some *****!

When I picked up a 996TT Tiptronic (stock 420hp), it walked my C63. Turbos rule up here in the mountains!
