Nothing good can become of this. You can't property repair a cracked or chipped wheel as the heating process usually weakens the metallurgy of major sections of the wheel causing the possiblity of catastrophic failure later on. Ask your wife wouldn't she be more happy if the cost of a new wheel outweights the cost of visiting you in the hospital or graveyard.

Have to agree however that fixing that kind of crack seems kinda like a long shot..at least in terms of durability. For the safety of you and your family, get a new rim.
