To tint or not to tint. That is the question.

2010 Irridium Silver MB C63 AMG Sedan
Believe me...I want to go nuts with this car...I just can't drive it to its fullest potential where I live. The car is a BEAST just by itself...I have almost killed myself with ESP OFF and redlining twice (best 10.1 seconds of my life). I have already had a few tickets and I am sick of the cops hiding here in all the bushes...not that I condone erratic driving on public streets at all and I don't do that but just that we are all tempted to stretch the C63s legs here and there on an empty road but I don't have a lot of those here.
Plus, I have only hit the track twice with it and it was a blast but with my work schedule I can't get around to it. I just can't get around to wheels, tune, exhaust, lips, etc etc...even though I would love too it will sit in the garage or like right now, Ill be at work and its snowing outside!

We're fortunate in Canada as the local authorities (I say that because it's not all RCMP - thank goodness) are quite forgiving unless you have stupid limo tint. My thought is to use the lightest tint possible as it's best for visibility at night time (think rain - lots of ****ing rain in Vancouver) yet still maintain appealing aesthetics and provide heat insulation properties. I've always used 50% all around (minus the windshield - does that even need to be clarified??) and I've had very few problems. I've been stopped a couple times, but it was always a warning with no requirement to show that I've removed the tint as required by local laws. This was always done on my previous cars (A4, 2 Golfs and a Jetta). Police are NOT allowed to 'vandalize' your vehicle by scratching or altering the film on your vehicle's glass in any way.
HOWEVER, I've noticed that the glass is slightly darker on the C63 so I never bothered to tint them... the black interior 'amplifies' any aftermarket tinting so I was satisfied with the stock glass. Besides, if I need to kick it in my 63, it's one less thing to worry about (notice I said "need" - it happens! )

Getting done right now. 35% front and 20% rear and a strip on the windshield. I've use this guy the past three years and he comes to you. Awesome work. I was discussing with tinting the side markers but because window material does not work well with plastics it might not last too long and plus it will absorb the tint material since plastic breaths not like glass. I'm excited to see it finish.

Definitely TINT. However, if it's illegal (like it is in NJ), then I wouldn't recommend it.
It's bad enough the COPS (not all) hate on us for owning this car...
I would think that it will increase your chances of getting a ticket(s) that you might not have gotten...
I have a lot of friends that are cops as well. They all tell me the same thing about tints.

I go without. MB is one of the few cars that I have always thought looks better without. All of the other cars I have owned had tint. But I like the glass on the Merc. It has a bluish hue to it. Not sure if it's just my crappy eyes, but I like the look.

I prefer NOT to tint because the car just looks better without it. The older (ie REAL) Mercedes Benz vehicles before any Chrysler DNA was in the mix were perfect from the showroom. They looks classiest and most elegant without any tint on them beyond the factory tint.....in my opinion of course!
