I can tell you that really dark tint ARE A OFFICER SAFETY ISSUE. We don't like walking up to cars with dark windows. Remember hands do the killing and if we can't see the hands we don't know what's going on. 95% of us are decent people who just like dark windows but you should see how many times we get shot at or tried to be ran over because we couldn't see inside the car. Please just remember we all stopping you for a traffic infraction for all we know. That same person could have just shot his wife or god knows who and thinks we are stopping him because we are looking for him. And in reality it's his tints or somthing as simple as a brake light. Yes I cite if they are way too dark but I usually give a fix it ticket so when they go to court it's dropped. Please just try to put yourself in our shoes I know there's a few bad apples but it's not all of us. Just FYI if I pull over ( and have ) pulled over the same driver in the same car for the same offense I simply note the ticket and let the Judge deal with it, not be a ***** and ruin someone's car. Guys I'm a major car guy but I can see where dark glass is a reason for safety.
Thank you for sharing this perspective. As the son of two law officers, I completely appreciate and understand this concern especially living in NYC. When I purchased my car, these dark tints were already on installed - on my previous vehicles I had legal tints (but always longed for darker ones for privacy concerns.) Nowadays I just keep my fingers crossed and hope I don't pulled over but am mindful of lowering my windows when I am around police.

CK17 - I'm not trying to be a tough guy here, I'm not. I have people to be tough guys for me, so I don't have to be bothered. But if a policeman were to vandalize my property like that, I'd wait til he were off duty, I have the resources to find where he lives, I do have the law on my side. And then he would get his much more than I got mine. I would have just gave him a nice

I understand the safety issue, but the weapons in a car issue isn't as big of a problem in Canada as it is in the USA ( not trying to start something here, just saying that the average American is more likely to have a gun on your person than the average Canadian) I have close friends thats are RCMP so I understand that not all law enforcement officers are like this, but the officers that have pulled me over have not given a warning or a ticket that wouldn't stand up in court. I could understand their reasoning if perhaps I was being a menace in my vehicle or had some previous record of some sort,or even if the officer came up saying that my vehicle matched the description of a wanted car, but this is not the case ( I've had 1 ticket in the last 8 yrs that wasn't for tint and that was on my Hayabusa..nothing to do with my car) so I don't understand why if an officer gets up to the car and sees that there is no danger that they still have to power trip. With the red light cameras, that are also now converted to speed cameras at most of our intersections as well as photo radar all over the place I just think it would be nice if we could get a little break...its only tint.
But this is starting to get way so I'll shut up and say that yes I think the OP should tint lol

After my third time being pulled over for tint the officer said I obviously wasn't catching on so he scratched a line with his pen down it so I had to replace it on my drivers window. I think its a joke that we can't do something as simple as tint our cars so as for now I just call it a "tint-tax" and pay it... it was my G37 that he scratched it off so I was P/O but let it slide... if he tries it on the Benz well they'll probably have justification for a ticket then...
how dark is your tint, and where in Canada are you? 30% is a relatively light tint and it's pretty easy for people to look through the windows to see what's inside. I live around Toronto and never had a problem with tints.

and that office is an *** for damaging your car.

Overall I am not a fan of tint. On my W208 I even had the tint stripped(As I have with other cars), as I love the "Blue" glass look of Mercedes Glass.

My opinion changed when I saw my W209, the seller had it Ceramic Tinted professionally, and I absolutely love it. Never seen such a good tint job in my life.

Yes a nice tint job ( light tints ) really makes these cars look great. For some reason less is more with MB cars

I'd go with none or very light.

I'll be picking up the car tomorrow. But...not sure what tint they used lol. I know they use 3M. But my SA told me he asked for me and they said "Optical Technology Carbon Filler". I went to 3M's website and found a few different window tints including crystalline, nano ceramic, metallic, etc. Hopefully they note the product code on what they used.

pics of the tint! I didn't realize tinting the car takes that long...mine was done in about 2 hours iirc. Then again, it was two guys working on the car at the same time when i got it done, so who knows.

you're gonna love the look!

Take my word for it Khemr, I have asked far and wide, and I saw the same small ones with mine, unless they work in a total vacuum, you will always, ALWAYS have some slight imperfections with any tint job. I have asked all the pros and was bothered with a couple small pieces of dust flecks in mine...don't worry.

I asked around also and some people mention some bubbles will disappear after they dry well enough. I'll give it a few days.

Im in Calgary, there seem to be a lot of "young" officers trying to flex their law enforcement muscle. My tint on the rear window and rear passengers is .25 so its pretty dark, but the front windows are at .5 and none on the windshield because my car is already way to dark lol... but on black cars it looks so nice to have some tint... my Merc is at the dealer now and it will be tinted before I even drive it off the lot lol

+1 on that tint job. Just adds to an already beautiful car. Did you do the rear window as well?

I hate sitting vehicles in the sun if I can help it. Would you recommend it? In the garage atm.

Before and After pics. Only took a quick shot because was late for work lolz.

Not sure what they type of 3M they used. Looks like crystalline or ceramic I think. Looks darker in person. Pictures don't do it justice. BTW, it hasn't even been 24 hours since they did it...would it be safe to give the gal a good wash?

The last pic has the white threads in it from the windshield itself...top left. Some of it has been flattened, some has not. You can tell when you see the light color, and when it's grayed, darkened. Hard to explain it.

khmergod, the tint is inside the car, so it's safe to wash, just don't open your windows for a few days to make sure the film cures to the window. Leave it out in the sun as much as possible to help speed up the curing process.

looks good btw
