It has come to my notice that C63s are made in several countries.....so how do you know where your car is made...Germany,South Africa, Brazil etc etc?

Haven't got the car yet, so haven't got the VIN.....I simply thought C63s may have been made in various factories.....I know the engines are assembled in Germany, but there's nothing to stop parts being sent to any assembly area, where the car would be built. But I have no idea.....maybe all C63s are built in Germany.....anyone have a definitive answer?

The E55 bodies were put together at Benz in one part of Germany and then assembled/mated with engines and strict AMG checks up in Affalterbach Germany.
I would think C's are the same.

I will say this, the bodies can be built in a number of different factories. Both of my AMGs were built in Sindelfingen Germany. But the engines are definitely built in only one place, and that is Affalterbach, Germany.

Actually, in all honesty, the OP has a point, our vehicles were definitely assembled in Germany in various locations, including the AMG plant.
However, this is a global economy, and the individual parts that make up the vehicle are probably sourced from all over, and my guess would be that much of the electronics were made in China, as for the other parts, even the parts of our engines, may be from all over the place.

I doubt it, that Mercedes gets any electronics, or any engine parts from China. As we all know that China produces crappy everything. If they did, I would be greatly dissappointed.

It is possible to buy an entire Mercedes-Benz built in either China or Viet Nam. Or Brazil. Our new Mercedes-Benz was built in Bremen, Germany. The German content was only 72% or 73%. Be prepared to be disappointed.
Wayne
Very pleased with 73% of our new GLK 350 in East Texas.

I am dissappointed now...... Thanks. I will say this, I wouldn't buy a MB that was built in China.

Wayne,
I can understand why the Chinese would buy one. As these cars are manufactured just for the Chinese Republic and not the rest of the world. But I bought my Mercedes knowing that it was manufactured using German technology by Germans. As we all know that Germany builds some of the worlds best engineered cars in the world.

Agreed. I did not know that the Chinese factory production was for domestic consumption only. I seem to recall reading somewhere recently that production in the Chinese plant was being curtailed. True or False?
I do hope that my first M-B will be at least as good as my 3 cars from Mercedes-Benz's neighbors to the north have been.

It was printed on a seperate placard above the widow sticker on the GLKs at the dealership where we bought our GLK. I just can't remember if it was 72% or 73%. I agree that it is an awfully precise number. I will look the next time I'm there. I might even remember to take a picture.
