Painted SOME of my grill today.
Sorry for the bad iPhone pic. Did the good ol plastidip special on the center 2 bars. Not sure how it could have been any easier. Grill comes out nice and simple and the Plastidip goes on pretty smooth.
If anybody wants a better pic or a particular angle just let me know and I'll get it for your first chance.

I don't think so. This is the look I was going for, and I'm happy with how it turned out. All black is too dark, and all chrome was too blingy. To me this looks just right.

The grill is looking nice... you did a great job!! I painted mine the same way last year, loving the look with the chrome accent more than all black.

I did the same thing on my grill but with flat black vinyl. It looked weird to me. I liked it at first but then it bothered me, so I removed the vinyl. Now, it's back to stock look, which looks so-so because I have the C/F hood without the top chome strip of the grill screwed in. Looks kinda sloppy like that, though, so I have to install that top part of the grill next.
Your clear reflectors do look clean. I hate the stock orange look.

I used the Plasti-dip and really took my time. Just fogged it in and took 4 coats to do it, with an hour or so between coats. After the last coat I brought it in the house to be nice and warm over night. It looks pretty damm OEM if you ask me, and isnt quite matte but maybe light satin in terms of finish.

I do agree with you that the look of a completely black grill on a car that has the rest of the chrome in OEM color, looks out-of-place.
