Michelin tire warranty is bull@#$%
I put a set of Michelin Pilot Sprot Cup A/S on for the fall/winter. I shredded my front tires very quickly (under 2000 kms). Brought them in to have a tire shop review them for warranty. The guy said yes they have "feathered" and are good for a warranty claim. Here is where they get ya. In order to process the warranty claim I have to BUY a new set of the exact same tires. Send in the old tires and IF Michelin thinks they are a warranty claim they will send me a cheque for the tires. If they don't think it's a claim issue, I'm out the money on 2 sets of the tires. This is total BS. I want to know BEFORE I have to spend hundreds of dollars. These likely will be the last Michelins I ever buy.

That really sucks...
If I can give one peice of unsolicited advice, it is "never trust warranties". Whether it's tires, cars, watches, etc. it won't work most of the time. If it did, the retailer wouldn't offer it because it would be unprofitable.

that's weird... i've done warranty on 2 sets of michelins and they don't work that way... especially if you deal with discount tire... i also know of other people who have had similar experiences as mine
and the warranty credit goes towards any michelin brand tires... it doesn't have to be the same set... from what i know, the authorized dealer checks the tires, and then they make a phone call to michelin if they need to, otherwise, they'll credit you right away depending on your mileage... and they will take your tires and deal directly with michelin later
i recently took my pilot sport a/s plus in for warranty, and picked up a set of pilot super sports...
it sounds like you should try another tire shop

So what should I do? I bought these tires from a discount guy who just buys them from another guy. So he's not much help. I'm trying to find a tire shop that will help me even tho I didn't buy them from them. It's not like I'm trying to warranty rear tires from my C63. It's the fronts!!! Any local guys able to help me out?
Pretty bad that Kal Tire is flat out lying to me about the warranty process.

I called Michelin and they said I have to go to a dealer first and have them inspected. Which I did, and the dealer agreed they were bad. Now that dealer has completely changed his story. I'm going to try another dealer I've bought some snow tires for another car from and see what happens.

I just did one long distance trip. Lots of corners and high speed straight aways for about 800 kms. I hit 220km/h. Nothing crazy but... Then I did a day of very spirited cornering. The tires wore in a weird pattern. The leading edge of each tread was barely worn but the tailing edge wore almost down to nothing. That's why I think there is a warranty claim here. I went and had my alignement checked and it was spot on.

I would get your alignment checked... sounds like something is not right if you wore the tires that quickly. I bet $5 if you put a new set of tires on, the same thing will happen again if you don't check alignment.

I too have exchanged at discount tire, both Toyos and Michelins....drive up, see wear, compare to warranty mileage, correlate wear % to discount %, buy new tires, install, move on.
Your tire place is crooked.

My Dad knows the chief pilot of Kal Tire. Us having many cars on company fleet and personally we tried to purchase over 10 sets of tires for a bulk price and get a discount with his new connection. Not only was the price quote we got garbage ($50 off per set of 4), but the recommended contact we arranged the order with had awful knowledge and was very hard to work with. I don't recommend Kal Tire to anyone. They don't have any interest in customer service.

One more time...
Dealing with a guy who knows a guy who gets a guy to find a set of tires to save a Loonie or a Twonie is false economy.
To everyone else, look at the OP's location. He is in Lower Western Outer Canuckistan, a.k.a. Vancouver, B.C., Canada. Discount Tire is AMERICA'S Largest Independant Tire Dealer.
Thanks for the endorsement of Discount Tire. I plan to use them to keep my cars shod with Pirelli Scorpions in the future.
To LFM Vancouver, call Michelin back. Tell them who gave you the run around. Ask for another dealer who is on the up & up. As much as we would like to help, the internet won't get you much help.
Good luck!

My understanding of most warranties (which would include tires), as long as you go to an Authorized reseller, they can make the determination.. which means you do not have to go to the one you made the purchase from.

All the more reason to stay within the framework of the manufacturer's selling network.
