I logged into Geico yesterday to up my liability limits and noticed that I was actually already paying for an extended warranty. I guess I had added it before when I was leasing my Range. In order to qualify you need to add it prior to reaching 15k miles on your car.
I got some docs on it and the literature seems to state the same as most extended warranties - it covers mechanical failures other issues but not wear and tear items. To say the least it was a nice surprise b/c my warranty will lapse before the next car I want will be out for about a year.
The price for this extended warranty is $67.80 per 6 months ($250 deductible). I guess since it won't kick in until 4 years later Im paying $542 for this add-on. I was told they will recommend shops, but that I did not have to go to those they recommended. The way I see it, if something did go wrong in year 5 of ownership, Id just get it fixed on Geico and get rid of the car.
On a side note I also noticed that I have full glass coverage, with no deductible. After reading into it, I saw that glass and plastic for lighting is also covered. Im sure some owners would like to look into that considering how often our foglights get cracked.

This is what I was quoted, a little on the higher end of other quotes here..
3 years, expiring at 100,000 miles: cost is $5348.53
3 years, expiring at 125,000 miles: cost is $6579.43
2 years, expiring at 100,000 miles: cost is $4781.83
2 years, expiring at 125,000 miles; cost is $5616.43
My issue is I drive a decent amount and this is my DD. I'm gonna hit 100k in no time. I feel like I'd be better off putting that $5k aside for a rainy day that might even not happen.

I know it is an old post. I am deciding between EasyCare and Mercury (by Auto-POM) for a 2006 E350 4matic. EasyCare is a little cheaper to cover engine, transmission, and brake system. Where can I get the best quote and to purchase either the EasyCare or Mercury policies?
Any input will be appreciated.

I'm in a similar situation and quotes I'm getting are all over the map. The general consensus here is that no extended warranty is worth it. I have an extended warranty that is set to expire on my 07 CLK63 , and this warranty (from aul, purchased from a dealer) is remarkable according to the service records that came with the car.
My local dealer sells fidelity, and honors this warranty at their dealership so that may be the way to go for me. Depending on the quote I receive, I may just bank that money and keep it as a savings for maintenance. I'm due for a brake job (not covered in any warranty) and easily looking at $3k just for that.
Honestly, I spoke to the service manager at my local dealership, he had never heard of most of the companies I mentioned to him, and said that most warranties are really a pain in the ***. Two of best that hes heard of are Fidelity(which they sell, and he has one on his own vehicle) and AAA. He said few warranties cover the full MB dealer labor rates, usually only paying $75/hr(my MB dealer is $125/hr). He also says rarely to these warranty companies cover the entire claim, if at all, and that his customers are left holding the bag for much or all of the cost 90% of the time.

drawde,
I got a mercury gold quote today, same mileage as you, $5k/3yr/36kmi....$100ded. by the time you get to 110kmi you're going to be looking at a very steep quote indeed.
there are definitely two "tiers" of auto warranties. companies like Mercury, Fidelity, warranty group...that are sold primarily through luxury car dealers. These are exclusionary policies. The second tier seems to be these shady fly-by-night warranty co's (directbuy, wanted auto, etc) that are less than half as much, but seem to universally get terrible reviews.
I'm going to bank the $5k and use it for my upcoming brake job...$3k for brakes plus $5k for warranty is tough to swallow, but that's why the guy I bought it from was selling.

My fidelity warranty on my first C63 turned out to be garbage when I had a stuck injector. They only paid out a rate as if you went to Pep Boys to have it fixed. Not the AMG mercedes rate to have an AMG tech do the repair. I ended paying the difference, which was quiet substantial.

I paid 2950 for first one. A few hundred less the next time. I can tell you that all things have a dealer markup, including the extended warranty. I have reason to believe they clear anything over 2200.
