anything is possible... i'm not sure what i want to do yet... it's petty crime/theft... but it's still stealing...

but isn't that kind of fear why a lot of people can get away with certain crimes...

for an extreme example, rape or being molested... the victim can just be given a threat like they will come after them and kill them if they ever say anything... and the victim will be scared to do anything because they don't want to get hurt or be embarrassed when the whole world finds out... and that ***** can just move on to his next victim until he does get caught or turned in...


i've been wanting to go but the track is not open on fridays anymore this month and i don't have time to go on saturday yet... i'll definitely update my thread once i do...

personally id report him because if it was the other way around theyd report you in a heartbeat, who knows maybe hell come back and take something else off your car since he got away with it the first time, yea its $20 bucks but why should you have to waste your money on that when it was there perfectly fine till he came by and stole it, that could have been gas in your tank.

Definitely turn him in. A couple reasons:

1 - clearly he "got away with it" and has an interest in Mercedes cars...and he already knows where you are parking. Maybe next time he comes back for the spoiler...or the wheels...or the car itself, with your wife/GF/family in it. The guy has a penchant for breaking the law and an interest in your property...dont take that lightly.

2 - if you report it, who is to say YOU actually reported it? Let the police or your local security (whoever is monitoring those cameras) know and let THEM chase this guy down. They have a vested interest in this too. When he gets brought in and shown the footage the last thing on his mind will be "im going to get back that guy for reporting me" - dude, there is FOOTAGE of you doing it, what makes you think the owner reported it?

Gotta turn him in...reason #1 alone reminds me why concealed carry is a beautiful thing

on the bright side, at least the thief didn't stratch/dent your trunk and paint....I've seen friends cars where they straight up destroyed the surrounding area

Turn him in! If you are reluctant because your not 100 % sure he did it, provide his company or police with the video and other info and let them decide.

It looks like there are a couple of finger marks that stop where the edge of the emblem use to be. That makes me think the guy on the video was not running his hand across the trunk because he saw the holes.

i've decided to turn over any evidence i have over to the police and let them handle it and try and keep me as anonymous as possible...

i bought a new emblem from the dealership on saturday and put it on. it cost me $19.50+tax...

the emblem doesn't fit as snug as it does on the oem trunk, nor is it flush like the oem... it's now understandable how easy it was to pull it off... it definitely will stay in place, but if you push on the top or the bottom of the emblem, you can make it teeter totter... i plan on using a light coat of gorilla glue on the prongs and hopefully that'll make it a bit more secure

also, i don't think i mentioned that this happened during the day a little after 5pm

got a visit today from someone trying to look for the owner of the white bmw in the parking lot... i didn't realize at first that he was actually talking about my car... i walked outside to catch him before he walked into another store and i asked him if he was looking for the owner of this car (me pointing to my car)... he said yes...

he introduces himself as the manager from the shipping company and that he came here to apologize for what happened and that he found who did it and he'll be taking care of him... at first no one would admit it and they were all scared but i guess he found out who it was... apparently a new hire... he was even able to recover the emblem

he knew that the replacement cost was about $22... i guess the detective who visited them gave him that information... he asked me what he can do... i told him i'm not looking for much... i'm just glad no damage was done and i already got myself a replacement emblem... so all i'm looking for is the replacement cost... he apologized some more and then pulled out $22 and handed it to me... i said thank you, we shook hands, and then we parted ways

a minute later he walks back inside with the emblem and handed it to one of my coworkers... i was in the back building at the time... so now i have $22 and my old emblem back...

just got a call from the detective... we had a short chat and he gave me some additional info...

he has all the info on the guy who did it... and he'll most likely be fired if not already...

and he said it wasn't hard to find the emblem, since it was still sitting in the delivery truck... (remember how i didn't report it right away...) he said the guy was pretty stupid... i laughed...
