Plastidip/Paint Winter Rims?
I was wondering if anyone has painted their winter rims themselves or if I should even attempt it? Would plastidip work or should I paint them? I have OEM 18's for my winter setup. The rims are currently silver but I think black would look much better.

How much did the plastidip cost you? In Toronto its $20 a can! and the home hardware (I tried loses, home depot, and canadian tire) I went to only had 2 cans in black! Im going to go to another home hardware soon. I did my centre cap from the wheel with 2 coats and it turned out really nice this morning. Ill try to do one wheel tonight and hopefully the rest this weekend.

its sold out for the black ones in home hardware and i found a paint store that sells them too, it was like $17.99 each in Vancouver. I bought 5 cans and it takes around 1 can per wheel. I put on 3 coats and after 2 weeks of driving, i haven't seen any chips or scratches yet.

I had some fun last night with my emblems...The wheels take a long time to wrap so I am going to wrap them tonight, and paint them tomorrow.

Just finished mine. Use a pointed exacto knife held as flat against the surface of the car as possible. There is a slight space between the emblem and the body were the two way adhesive foam tape holds the emblems on. Just be gentle and you can get the point of the blade in there without touching your body paint. After you score it with the blade, use a tooth pick in the corners of the emblems to make sure the plastidip doesn't pull off. Inside the numbers/letters take a bit more time. Go slow and have lots of light.

Not sure if plastidip is going to hold up on wheels esp in the winter.

Looks great... but I highly doubt they will last with our harsh winter. On the other hand, it's pretty cheap to re-apply the plasti-dip.

Quick pick after installing... the grey looking stuff is just a bit of anti-seize from my hands. Im pretty impressed so far. I will let you guys know how they hold up. Let me know if you want better pictures.
