My C63 09 with 17Kmls was parked in the garage for about 45 minutes after running some errands and ran fine. When i wanted to run an other errand and fired up the engine for perhaps 40 seconds it ran ok (engine oil is still warm) stationary and then suddenly it started running very irregular with several cylinders cutting off and on. The yellow light came on too. I turned it off and re-started and occasionally all 8 were running and then several cylinders were cutting off and on again. when revving it up to 3 krpm it did the same and almost died on me. I know at times there were only 3 cylinders running. Needless to say i decided to you the wife's car and I will have to see if I can drop it off or if the dealership can pick it up on a flat bed on Monday.
Any suggestions?
Thanks .

Forgot to mention something really important, just filled up the car with a new tank of gas, SHELL 93. Always get this and never had problems but it is very odd to say the least, right after the fill up.....

If the misfires are specific to just one cylinder bank then I would look first at the upstream O2 sensor.
Thank you guys for all the tips, extremely helpful! I am going to get the beast checked in tomorrow and will keep you informed about the findings.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.
Could it be a coil pack?

You know back in 2003 when I just picked up my brand spanking new m3 I had almost the exact same thing happen after a full tank of shell. Stopped at a stoplight engine began to struggle and eventually died. Towed to dealer and they had no idea what went wrong. Apparently started up just fine for them.

Overfill the tank and flood out the evap/vent system? Purge valve problem? Good luck getting it figured out.
The day after the engine problems it fired up normal and ran fine to the dealer as if nothing had happened. I decided to drop it off anyway.
When I picked up my car from the dealer they told me that the computer reported that the car ran out of gas. While the car never ran out of gas they believe that since I had just filled up the tank there may have been some water in the gas which caused the engine to start running very rough, at times on only 4 cylinders. Everything else checked out fine.
It has been running fine for about 10 days I reckon and suddenly on Sunday the same thing happened. Mind you still on the same tank of gas, I dont drive a lot , just for fun in the weekends. The next day everything is fine again. Its like a freaking ghost! I guess I will drop it off again to have them check again.

First step is to determine whether the misfires are specific to one cylinder bank. That rules out many possible causes including bad gas.

Thanks! i will go back to the dealer and have them check this, again. The first time I send the service rep an email with a link to this posting and he told me that he had passed this on to the actual mechanic working on my car but could n't find anything. Anyway, I really dont hope they find something bad but than again I want this resolved and thats what warranty is for.Originally Posted by hhughes1

How do the spark plugs look? A lot of these post lately about mis-fires.. WEIRD.
Benz mechanics are useless, they wont fix anything unless the computer tells them what to fix lol. Hopeless on issues like this, you will be bringing the car back there many times I assume.
Id change that tank of gas you have now and use something different as a first step.

Is this the dreaded engine failure that the Class Action is about?
