Running too hot? Oil temp average 220F - 240F+. Yes another oil temp thread.
My water temp is always at 197-201....anyone know at what water temp and oil temp does the ECU start pulling timing and powering back?
I usually drive my 2012 C63 in C mode. Today, I tested it in S+. A few spirited acceleration of less than 5 mins in total, my oil temp went to 240F (115 deg cel) and the whistling sound of the fan was apparent quite suddenly and got really loud. Startled me actually thinking that I may have been abit too rough with the accelerations.
How can it be? Just less than 5 hard accelerations & not even WOT..... quite amazed that the engine does get heated up easily. Plus the outside weather temp is only 52F (14 deg cel).
Anyone experiencing this in S+??

I have a 2012 like yourself... After the 1000 mile break in period, I started playing around with ALL the "modes". My commute home from work is 6 miles.
The last stretch (2 miles) is all highway, where I would PUNCH it in "S+" or downshift to 2nd in "M" while cruising at about 40 mph and max out each gear to about 100-110 (keep in mind this is only for 2 miles or so).
Hence, my oil temp would SOAR from about 210 to 240-255 degrees in that short stretch, fan whistling and everything else.

That said, I am used to it by now and I believe it's normal. I've never seen it go past 255, and recently my "Check Oil at Next Refueling" warning light kept flashing on the dash.
I've since added about 1.5 quarts and I am good to go
Again, I wouldn't worry too much about it. However, check you oil levels now and then. The dipstick has 3 red "dots" or wtvr on it. I THINK the oil should be at or near the "top" red dot closest to the pull handle.
Good luck
I am normally at 100C or 220 F for oil and 90-92C for Water in my normal country road driving.
thats All , and the highest temperature i reached is 131C engine oil temperature with hot weather so it's don't worry it is normal .
Any question Ask !

I dont see any problem with my oil temp. Mines around 190 ~ 220 .
Thanks .

my friend borrowed my W166 ML63 M157 v8biturbo. He said the oil temp went above 300F, maybe 320F. Coolant temp around 250F. He pulled on the side of the hwy, screen flashed amber then red. Turned off the engine. It was towed to my house, headgasket is blown. Coolant is gushing underneath through the mid exhaust pipe when I tried to fill up from the reservoir while recirculating. Now, what’s the likely hood that it’s more than just head gasket plus exhaust gasket maybe?
