After I came back for overseas trip to China, I took the C63 to 140mph, but normal driving is 70 to 90 mph.

Yeah but that is very much universal. In the united States is called registration, in Spain is called: impuesto de matriculacion (which translates to the same)registration tax/fee.

Highways up here are 100km/h in the city and when both directions share the same pavement. If its a separated highway with a median, then the limit goes up to 110km/h. Up here, if you chirp your tires off the line, the fuzz can give you a ticket for "stunting". Our laws in Alberta are not as stringent as some of the other provinces where they will impound and either crush or sell your car if you are caught going over the speed limit by a large amount.

Sydney is the same as Melbourne. We also have a system that if you mod your car it can be impounded and you will be fined. On the way to and from work I am lucky to get up to 60km/h and I travel outside of peak hour. Some say why have a C63 in those circumstances, I say why not. They can tell me how fast I can drive but they can not tell me (yet) what to drive.

Agree mate!!.....Wifey (who absolutely LOVES the C63) says, "it's not how fast you go, it's how fast you get there"!
Cheers, Pickles.

pickles: vic roads getting more stringent aren't they?! you can't even do some lil burn outs coming off from the lights? ah well.. that's the victorian law for ya! i got my victorian driver's license suspended for 2 years back in 1995.

anyways, its the norm here in Brunei where you're in a 30-40kph in congested areas and 100kph on dual carriageways in brunei. no speed cameras accept for mobile traffic police on the prowl at odd hours. hence people tend to drive fast at times..

Texas is increasing the limit on some highways in sparsely populated areas to 75 mph or 85 mph.
Alberta really goes crazy eh! A whopping 6 mph increase in the country.

In the neighborhood I live in, people feel "above the law" often, and in 25mph zones often go 50+ and on our 2-lane local freeway (only about 10 miles long) the slow lane goes about 80mph while people easily go 90+ on the left lane. I've gone 115 and stayed there for a while in my ML320, ~130 in an A8L, and people still pass me from time to time. If cops would start monitoring this neighborhood they sure would make some easy money...

Pickles,
First check your speedo vs a GPS. I found both my AMG's to be about 6 KMH slow. ie 100 KMH indicated on the speedo was about 94 actual according to 2 GPS and my old Nokia Phone. (My Porsche is the same, might be a German thing)
I normally set about 107-115 (100 KMH Zone) on my drive to/from work when using cruise depending on how late early I am and if a holiday time when the police seem more zealous than normal. Be careful not to go above indicated 130 KMH on the roads when giving a quick blast, if caught 25+ over then no driving for a while.

Tell me about it, I'm VERY careful.....usually set the cruise on about 105/6....about a real 101/2kph.
Had an issue in our GTO several years ago in S.A. I was travelling back from Adelaide....got stuck behind a Corolla & a Hyundai, they were travelling together, 100k zone, but double lines, they were purposely holding me up...sitting on 65/70ks.......I could've overtaken, but no, I would not cross double lines....SO.....when the double lines finished & I get to the first straight bit of road.....I decide to overtake......and I'll get past both these turkeys at once.........as I'm passing them, I see a Cop on a motor-bike on the side of the road......result ....got me for 142 in a 100 zone (no license loss!)......that's what I get for waiting for the double lines to finish......so yeah.....I'm VERY careful.
Cheers, Pickles.

I lived in Sydney for a year and the oppressive driving rules (and the poor quality of driving) were part of my decision to return to Europe. When I lived in Oz I owned a VW Golf diesel - absolutely no point in owning a sports car IMHO. I used to watch guys driving 911 turbo's at 60 kmh out of Sydney and thinking ....how frustrating.

Flash forward - yesterday I drove from my home in Frankfurt to Heidelberg in the middle of the day with substantial parts of the journey covered at 240 kmh .......legally (240 is the speed limit on my winter tyres). Believe me though, driving fast is Germany is only really possible outside rush hours other times just too much traffic.

The best thing though is if you are unlucky enough to get caught speeding then anything below 20 over the limit you will just get a fine and no points.

My fastest on the autobahn? 293 (indicated) in my previous C4S...now that was fast!

You are indeed a lucky man to be able to "stretch" your beast and enjoy some "satisfying" driving.
Cheers, Pickles.
