C63 vs. Shelby-I Lost

The 07-09 shelby's dyno stock about 450rwhp
The 11-12's dyno @ 490-500.
The C63 and the GT500 have near identical weight within 50lbs. So, from a roll both cars stock (not a dig) the GT500 is going to be just slightly faster. From a dig, I think the C63 has better traction and launch, so it will be pretty darn close, but I bet the C63 would edge a stock GT500, especially (definitely) the 07-09's. The 12's would fare better.
Here is the thing: the GT500 is one of the easiest cars to mod, basically of all time. It has a super stout engine, and responds well to simple things.
The C63 is a badass car, I love the fact that it is a muscle car and a MB. But, it would take a heck of a lot of money and forced induction for a C63 to hang with 90% of the GT500's that are out there. We are talking car lengths.
My car has stock exhaust, but I have a twin screw 2.9L supercharger with 17lbs of boost. It is pretty quick...there are faster cars out there though, especially here in Dallas.
Not trying to flame! Happy driving.

- A pulley, intake, and tune nets around 550rwhp...A pulley/intake/tune/supercharger port/long tubes around 600rwhp.
- Slap a new supercharger on there, of which there are literally around 5 choices of sizes and types, you can go from 630rwhp all the way to around 800.

Nice write up. They had a Mustang meet at an Outdoor World (Bass Pro Shops) here where I live. Gave me a different perspective and repect for the car. There were some really nice cars there.

There aren't many GT500s around here, and the few that are are Super Snakes.
Keep in mind that a stock GT500 has I believe 550hp. Next year they will have 650hp stock.
And the SuperSnake comes in 600-800hp configurations. So if by chance you encountered a SuperSnake then there really wasn't much of a chance.

My friend has the GT500 SS. 725 HP package. The car is absolutely bananas. Completely out of control, but if you can harness that power holy crap. He turns me down to come to the track every time. One day I will get him there.

SVT Boost, you are a class act with the intellegence that some of our members lack, nice to get a muscle car guy who knows his stuff.

Nice to see a good guy with a Mustang who knows his stuff. Some of our members here should take notice of the etiquette you displayed.
Bottom line is American muscle is still very inexpensive to mod and the 2012 GT500 will be a beast stock. Kudos to Ford for building some amazing cars and the quality is getting better as well.
There are always faster cars out there. Be safe and enjoy your power.

The GT500 is effortless and inexpensive to mod. Having modded the ***** out of mine, I was frustrated that the same is not true of the C63. There are comparatively few options in modding the C63, and it is considerably more expensive, particularly if you look at it in HP/TQ gained per dollar spent. I think a lot of that has to do with demand. Aside from the enthusiasts on forums like this, very few people are looking to modify their Mercedes, whereas a much higher percentage want to modify their GT500/Mustangs.
And that's fine. Both cars are beasts, and I drive both regularly on the street an occasionally at the track. They're just VERY different cars for different purposes. Driving the GT500 is the most fun I've ever had in a car. The C63 is the perfect all-around car, a beautiful, very high-quality daily driver that can outrun 99.7% of what's on the road.

Really a great thread...pretty cool quite a few C63 guys have owned GT500's. A couple of pics below of my car, and my dyno @ 17lbs and nearly 20lbs.
What I really want though is the last pic...the 2013 GT500. 650HP, fully track prepped, 0-60 estimates 3.6 1/4 mile mid 11's in the 120's from the factory. Pretty crazy from a muscle car. Or maybe I'll sell mine and buy a C63 coupe!

Hard to beat a supercharged car NA without a big displacement advantage.
Someone will make a TT kit for the M156, then it will be very different.
Untill then, enjoy the reliability of NA.
These cars were made for sustained high speed cruising, which unfortunately does not exist in the US
Another thing to note is that a supercharged car has an additional 100+HP heat load on the engine, from the 100+ extra HP consumed truning that supercharger at those RWHP levels.
That 685 RWHP engine is doing 900HP worth of work, with SC and drivetrain loss.
