C63 vs. Shelby-I Lost
#2
I believe the shelby come with 550hp stock. That would be a good reason to lose and not get to upset about it. I was talking about the GT500.

Keep in mind that a stock GT500 has I believe 550hp. Next year they will have 650hp stock.
And the SuperSnake comes in 600-800hp configurations. So if by chance you encountered a SuperSnake then there really wasn't much of a chance.

It was an 11 or 12 Shelby gt500 Cobra, I used to have an 11 and mine was fast. With the Eurocharged tune I have I should be near to him in HP and TQ, so I was surprised that he pulled on me as hard as he did.
Yes I floored it. Sheesh.

The HP is not all. Motorcycles beat cars and have less horsepower..you see where I am getting to? HP is not all you have to look at when comparing two vehicles.
The C63 coupe tested a 120 trap speed 1/4 miles on a car magazine, I am inclined to say that you didn't even know that. The OP that race the Shelby also had a tune which would make the car significantly faster.
The best comment here would be to guess that the Shelby had some additional mods. Stock for stock boths cars are very equal, at least that is what is shown on the various tests done by the car magazines.
You see, according to this magazine the Shelby doesn't accelerate faster than a 2012 C63 Coupe:

Another link of the Shelby with mediocre acceleration and 1/4 mile times:

"And the 550-horse Shelby? The GT500 struggled off the line, proof that power means little if it can't be fully utilized. "A tough car to launch, with tons of power at low rpm," says road test editor Scott Mortara. Thus, the Mustang, with times of 4.1 to 60 and 12.4 at 115.8 in the quarter, put down the slowest -- but still blazing -- numbers. "
If the C63 is not your strong topic or you are not well informed or if you are not well familiarized with it I suggest you read more road test so that you can get more accurate on your comments.

There is nothing to be surpised about. His car was modded. Look at the links I posted. The C63 coupe already tested quicker and faster from the box. I have no doubt that the Shelby owner had some pulley, tune or something else.

I have never encountered a GT500 that wasnt modded, and heavily modded at that, I raced on a highway two summers ago with a GT500 and I pulled on him quite a bit, where he started playing/tuning his radio and never looked up at me after that, his car was bone stock and so was mine. Being a mustang owners many many years ago, these cars are one of the cheapest to mod, hence the GT500 owners who practically all modify these cars. Just enjoy this unique car that you own, there are not many like them around...and i read recently in TOP GEAR that "the germans now build better V8's than the Yankees".

Yeah, it was modded, sounded modded. Shoot, with just a pulley and tune he'd be pushing 630ish. Anyway, it was fun, I rarely get to play with anyone.

Don't feel so bad, I make 685 rwhp. It is a 2007 GT500, and I was pulling in 3rd/4th due to it being cold and I kept spinning when I shifted. Thankfully we kept it under the speed limit the whole time

Well, I thought the car looked so good I decided to go read about it and find out if the paint was stock or wrap...and within two minutes I stumbled on this thread. Pretty cool, great community you guys have here.

I concur with you. I think the Shelby probably will pull from you specially having some specific mods(pulley, tune and maybe headers). I just disagree about the other person saying that the reason why it beat you is because it had 550hp. You are probably in that HP range as well.

You use very generic low logical sense. I guess I can race a M-1 Abraham tank and just because the tank has like twice the power it will beat me right? or how about a 18 wheeler with more horsepower?
