Ferrari Scuderia Owner considering a C63
** Previously posted in the wrong forum..SORRY!
Hello All,
I made the mistake of test driving a 2012 C63. The C63 blew me away...it was the most fun car I have driven since my Ferrari Scuderia and my Lotus....
Doing a bit of research. We will replace our 2010 Cuprite E350 with a Curprite C63.
1) As mentioned above, we want to get another Cuprite Brown car. We love the color and its very unique. Does anyone here happen to have real life pics of a cuprite C63 they could post?
2) We will order a C63 with every option. Including the development package and LSD. According to MBs site the MSRP would be around $78k. I know that our dealer will sell the car to us for 6% off + the loyalty $2k. So, all in that would result in a before tax price of $71,000. Are there any other discounts or trunk money on these things?
3) Our 2010 E350 is a very comfortable long haul car. Its a perfect compromise. Is the C63 too harsh for long hauls...does the ride become to hard and annoying? (on the test drive it felt fine but, that was just a test drive)
4) Of course I want to look into mods. Already read that Renntech and others offer ECU tunes that bump the power close to 500. However, the Blacks have over 500HP with what appears to be the same motor....same with the SLS. What give? Is the c63 just detuned?
5) We have owned many MBs. I know that there are often little options that the dealers don't know about. (or at least the sales people don't know about). Are there any non-listed at MBUSA.com C63 options that are worth considering?
Any suggestions would be great. I appreciate the enthusiasm on this site!

The c63 is very comfortable for long rides. I wouldn't worry too much.
I think it would look awesome in curprite brown!
It will be the best daily driver that will give you the kind of thrill you get from your scud!

C63 Edition 1 Coupe
That color will look great, and I agree it is fine on long hauls. Put it in comfort mode and just cruise. But then you have all the power available to you when necessary. You won't be disappointed.
With the development package, a tune would get you well beyond 500 hp because you will already be at 481 stock.. Members correct me if I'm wrong but 520 is within reach with a tune, I believe.

Tuned car = P31 car. Its been tested.
Id go for the P31 all day before a tuned non-p31.

It is an AMG development package (Carbon Fiber Trunklid Spoiler, Red brake calipers, top speed raised to 174mph, AMG performance steering wheel, 30+ HP, AMG compound braking system, Lightweight AMG forged pistons, Lightweight connection rods and revised crankshaft).

the C63 is a wonderful DD with enough sport to keep any tifosi happy. I have driven my C63 with our local Ferrari club during "spirited" drives and have more than kept up with the group. It's kind of funny that when you drive the AMG in a group of 30 Ferraris, Lambos, and Maseratis, you are really given no attention. It is nice sometimes to have and appreciate such a sleeper fun car. the shifting speed in the AMG is MUCH slower than the super fast F1 system that you are used to, but you likely already know this and still you are "blown away" by the driving experience of the C63. The sound of the AMG is much more american Musclecar roar than the high reving 9000 RPM scream of the V8 Ferrari. If you can, option the 19 inch Multispoke Rims with widest possible Rear tires (275's I think) and LSD. these are the best options, in my opinion. PP (P31) is also nice, but it seems you can. Get an ECU tune that will give you more power than the factory PP. If you don't get a factory LSD, you can also get aftermarket LSD (Quaife). I have a family with 2 small children, so I prefer the Sedan over the Coupe for practicality. Another "relatively iinexpensive" aftermarket option to consider is. Throttle Booster for the accelerator pedal.

1 - never seen a CB C63
2 - just started a thread on this asking for February incentives...seems loyalty is the best one besides conquest which pays up to $4k depending on what registration you show. doesnt look like any trunk money.
3 - fine for a DD - I have an '09 with performance package which is different than the current development package, has harsher ride, and it's fine. Stiff over speedbumps but its not like a bone jarring ride. The 2012's feel smoother.
4 - yes. check out what guys are doing on here - headers/mids/exhaust/ecu flash and you've got some solid gains. The p31 tune out of the box is similar to aftermarket ecu-tuned non-p31 C63's, so they say (however would still like to see more data on this)
5 - definitely...first thing that comes to mind is the illuminated door sills...dont remember if that was in the standard dealer build list or not.

If you are keeping the E then I would go for a black series. A standard C63 can be easily tuned to give you the same power but it won't be as fun as the black.

but for the cost of the Black , you can create an absolute animal out of the standard C63 . i understand the thought of having a very exclusive vehicle in the Black but i always feel that i would rather create my own personal vehicle with the looks and performance . i'm not saying anything bad about the Black.....just giving my $.02

2009 C63
I just recently purchased the c63 and I'm using it as my daily driver. The car is very comfortable but it obviously isn't as soft as the e class. I wouldn't hesitate to pick the c63 for a long drive (although she is a thirsty car) but the suspension is stiff enough where when you hit a big pothole or speed bump it'll shake your spine. I don't think it'll be a problem given it's nowhere near as stiff as the 430 scud. The cabin is quiet and the seats are fairly comfortable for the long haul (assuming you fit the seats).
Good luck on the purchase!

thanks guys.
You have told me what I wanted to hear
When we get this little beast I will completely debadge it. No AMG badges, no C63 Badges. Will make it as plain as possible. P31 is a must. Seems to be a great overall value. Strange that the LSD isn't part of the P31.
Going to speak with the dealer this week.
Again, sincere thanks for the support and honest feedback.
