Why bother setting a MSRP for dealerships since they are manipulating their profit margin. There should be a law against this way of doing business. Some restriction must be applied!
That kinda thing (the markup) is certainly distasteful to consumers, but should (in theory) be self-correcting... especially these days with how much information is readily available. Someone paying an over-MSRP markup should go into it eyes-wide-open, and determine if they wish to continue the transaction at that point, or do a little searching for a better deal elsewhere.

Well I am very happy to say that I just got off the phone with my dealership and I have a C63 Black Series with my name on it. They received the PO this afternoon and my name is on it.

This is obviously a victory for me but it's a victory for the power of social media as well. This thread has received nearly 3500 views in just over 24 hours and the thread I posted on AMG Private Lounge got close to 900 views in just under 3 days which is a HUGE number for the low amount of traffic on that site. Social Media is what secured me this car so I guess I have to thank MB, AMG, MBUSA and each and every one of you that clicked on this thread. I guess another thing that this proves is that MB monitors these sites and actually pays attention.

Thanks again,

Yes, it was due mostly to my post on PL because I posted there a day or two before here but they also received many links to this MB World thread as well from what I was told. My dealer said they got a call on Tuesday night from MBUSA wanting all their details, then yesterday e-mails started pouring in and today was more e-mails and phone calls and then the allocation confirmation and PO came over. My salesmen and the entire dealership is in complete awe of how quickly things happened.

Ya, LOL, I was affraid this might open those floodgates. Not to pat myself on the back but I think mine was special circumstanaces. I had filled out VIP allocation paperwork way back in like November. Somebody at MBUSA or a rep or somthing recomended to my dealership that due to the high internet visibility of my existing CLK Black Series that I get a VIP allocation. I can't confirm but I think that is why my dealership was able to get one by not being an APC. Its all pretty complicated but I was supposed to have been getting one all along but it fell through the cracks. I don't think that everybody that starts a thread whining that they want one is going to get one. I had been posting over on the PL all along like it was on order and a done deal and all of the MBUSA people that are active on PL thought so too so when they saw my thread they all wanted to know what happend. I don't think I will ever know exactly what happened but I have pieced some of it together, I am just happy that everything got worked out.

Wow... Great News Jim.

I know you're going to have to enhance it a bit...
In your hands, we'll all find out if it's the true next generation Black Series.

It sounds like you and the dealership both did things right. Great to see MBUSA (finally!) come to the party as well.

Looking forward to the pics and videos.

100% Agreed

I am sure they started out in damage control seeing how much negative exposure was generated by your experience. Couple that with the obvious plus side PR that will unfold as you document the new Black for so many to follow........it's a no brainer for MB. So many companies are just starting to understand the impact of social media upon the real world and adjusting their business protocol to take advantage. I would imagine the Facebook IPO announcement will accelerate the changes for many companies even more.

More importantly, I am very excited that this worked out for you and looking forward to follow the journey!

Congrats on the allocation Jim.
Sad you had to resort to bashing MB on the net but glad it was resolved to your satisfaction.
The dealer here still has their allocation unsold as of last week but they still want more than MSRP...
We can't wait to see what you do with your car.

Congrats JRCART!!
Maybe MB does care after all!
The old story of the squeaky wheel comes to mind, or my 3 yr old daughter, if she makes enough noise and is persistent, she usually gets another cookie

BTW, JRCART I know the real reason they're giving you the allocation--somebody high up at AMG told me it had something to do with a Coke can??? LOL man that guy sounded impressed!!!! Hahaha

Congrats man, glad to see one of these cars will be put to good use

Hope you enjoy your purchase and it was worth the hassle.

GT2 C63 and yo sister
with an earlier post you mentioned buying a Porsche and throwing your money to Stuttgart, fyi, Mercedes Benz is head quartered in Stuttgart also. It always upsets me when cars are limited production because it means A-hole dealers will lie and gouge preying upon our dreams and desires, scum they are who take a deposit and then cal you later demanding more blood money, same with the speculators who buy cars to "flip" Porsche apparently has a "speculator list", I heard dealers will catch grief if they sell to those people, its not a self correcting problem, over MSRP sales overtime weaken brand loyalty and discourage all but those who have more money than sense, so what may work for Ferrari wont for Mercedes and Porsche. To stop this we must stand together and refuse to pay more than MSRP, we must complain about dealers that do it and avoid doing any business with them, I do recall the Mitsubishi guys had a list of dealers who marked up the evos so they wouldn't patronize them. I've seen this ploy many times where you have a deal for MSRP and then the dealership "cant get the car anymore" which means they sold it for more than MSRP to someone else after locking in your order to get the allocation, they incur little risk because if the over MSRP guy flakes they can still sell it to you
