I was pulled over by an NYPD patrol car for not having my front plates. He just threw the ticket at me and wouldn't let me know how much the ticket costs. Does anyone know how much that ticket costs and is there any points associated with this ticket?

I think the 65 dollars is when you get it from a meter maid. When NYPD issues it to you, it's a different price. I've been hearing quotes of 90 - 130. I just want to know how much so I can know how much to pay.

 

Why don't you have your front license plate lol ? If you car is registered in a state where you don't need a front license plate and you go to another state where you need it, would you get a ticket too ?

 

I don't think so. It'd be silly to require driver to make physical changes to their cars just to comply with law of a state they are just passing through.

Out of state cars that are registered in states that do not require front plates have nothing to worry about. My friend has a Florida registered car in NY that never gets bothered with. If you are registered in a state that requires 2 plates and are operating in NY, they have a right to ticket you.
