It should be fun. I have a couple of logistical issues to take care of (you know what my schedule is like) but I think I can make it happen. I will likely try to schedule so I come up with Keith.

I hope he does come, it will be nice to finally see some real results in cold weather at one of the best tracks in the US. All the excuses will be gone. Maybe Cart will come too. Along with Keith and whatever you and Petro (Mike) have done it should be a great lineup.
Anything I can do too Earl. Im happy to help.

I believe a wait and see would be the best approach at this time. I am really curious that even with such a high stall his 60' didnt improve. Also with the higher stall you stand a much bigger chance of breaking the axles or diff. These cars get out just fine with the stock converter and break stalling to 1600-1800.
Would you believe I have not asked to see a Stage 3 dyno from either Weistec nor the owners of the CLK's.

I am more of a do and see person instead of waiting. I would prefer to break the axles and strengthen them after a quarter mile run than have them break when doing a 1km run. Regardless this is a non issue here in South Africa as we do not have the launch areas like in the US.

I cant imagine a Stage 3 will be bad in any way so dyno numbers really wouldnt sell it for me. Breaking stuff or not having the car perform or be able to put the power to the ground would be my reservation.

Power to the ground is the biggest reservation. Going wide body which will help in the higher gears.

I think Weistec should develop one, since they already have one for CLK 63BS. This will happen to more people as we push our cars to the limit.

custom axles from DSS cost around 2-2500 for the pair. There is no reason to pay MB prices on parts like these. 1-1.5k for a driveshaft. You could have a carbon driveshaft made for that.

Maybe you can find me some axles and a c/f driveshaft, I may need them later on....how much you think the stock diff will be good for??

The problem with dss is they take forever!!! I've been waiting a very very long time for my set to be made and they never deliver on the timeline they give me.
The stock diff is a m215 like the srt8 guys so they should be able to handle a decent amount of power. Those guys eventually switch to a 8.8 but that will cost a decent amount of money

If you have someone that can tune the tcu for the gear change then that would be great. You mean shorten not lengthen right? The shorter gear sets available for m215 are 3.23 and 3.55 I believe. Let me know if I can be of any help. Good luck with your build

Blackbenzz is right the stock diff can handle a lot. The srt8 guys are getting 800+whp down in them and there is a new stronger Quaife unit that with modifications to the case can fit the Mercedes diff housing. It just depends on how hard you are hitting it. From what I have seen in the past most of the time they break the axles or the lsd or both. This is why Quaife came out with a new one.

I would want to lengthen the gear speeds as our tracks here in South Africa are not the best with traction so at least I will make first and second useable.
