The more I look at your car, the more I realize that I need a drop ASAP! You have to do another proper photoshoot with the HREs!

Go for it BK.. The drop is very minimal but enough to make ur wheels look 20's.. Lol

Photoshoot with proper camera soon. U should start a thread with ur car pics.. It would be nice to see more of it.

Thanks, Roswell. Unfortunately iKu never got back to me about the springs so I may just go ahead and order a new set. Either way, I'm definitely going with the drop.

I'm planning on getting some proper pics up within the next week or so - I just haven't had time to clean and detail the car.

I'd actually like to see more pics of your car with the HREs!

BK, yeah just go for a new set in this case.. It's not much more, it's the labor to install them that cost the most. In my case, I paid more in labor than the spring itself... But my friend garage did an awesome job as I didn't have any pull to the right or left as some members have.

Thx bro, I still prefer the look of ur 20's though. This tinted clear finish is awesome, under the sunlight they look brushed & at night they look gunmetal.

I'll try to take better pics of my wheels/car this week-end. Last week pics were taken by my wife & her iPhone. Lol

AMG-10, do u rub on both sides in the rear? Mine only rub a bit on the passenger side over big dips at high speed.. Nothing serious enough to make me go down to 265/30. Lol

I'm so impressed by the Hankook Evo v12 tires, they grip so much better than my old General UHP. Thnk to Karl (_AMG_) for his recommendation.

When im in the car on my own it barely rubs. When I have a passenger it's a little worse on passenger side (my car is RHD though). As you said only over big dips in road, but nothing worth worrying about as there isn't any damage to the tyre.

I have previously had 2 sets of 285/25/20 Pirelli P Zero Nero on rear and just replaced them with Hankook S1 EVO. I think I prefer the Hankook, plus they have a higher tread wear 280 compared to 220 on the Pirelli's so hopefully they will last longer. The sidewall on the Hankook is a lot squarer than the Pirelli. Thinking of trying Nitto Invo next as 285 25 are very hard to get in Australia not to mention expensive.

Done and done :-). My guy quoted me $220 for the labor. Is that reasonable?

Wow, that's a great deal for installing the springs... good for you! To give you an idea, I paid 400$ (including our 13% HST) in Canada. Pretty sad.. lol

When I installed my H&R springs, I needed 3 items which I didn't have, one was a set of torx sockets, second was to order 2 new bolts for the rear inner table or A arm if you prefer & third was a spring compressor. As for the 2 bolts, the spring removal in the rear is very easy, with the car secured on jack stands place a floor jack under the table & proceed to remove the 14mm X 110mm bolt attaching the table to the frame Now on my car this bolt was inserted from the rear so when removing it, it came out about 2 or so inches & then hit the exhaust, D'oh! & the exhaust doesn't move enough to remove it so I cut it leaving enough of it to get vice grips on to remove the rest. Then lower jack & replace spring, raise into position & insert new bolt from the front, very easy. Also you will need the spring compressor to not so much remove the factory springs but install the new ones, not because there taller un-sprung but because the shocks sit neutral naturally not fully released like most. So if you have the ability, tools & a friendly garage nearby with a spring compressor it's not that bad to do with a buddy

Also check out the DIY in the C class forum.

Rear inner table bolt part # 003-990-26-05 ~$16

My mechanic did mention smthin about the exhaust being in the way. He had to lower it to make room if I remember correctly. But yeah, if u can do it yourself, it's even better cuz labor is expensive.

I know, huh? lol I got raped big time, but they were the only person I would trust doing it to my car. They actually installed my sideskirts, rear skirts & rear spoiler at the same time... so this price was all included. lol

ah, then that's not so bad, if it was $400 for just installing the springs, that'd be crazy.

Roswell I think I may have a source of your tire rubbing on the passenger rear. It might be partially due to the weight of the battery in that corner causing greater suspension movement on compression and especially droop - rebound/extension on higher speed dips.

If you look in the wheel well you will find that the fender liner on the passenger side is 5/8" closer to the mounting hub than it is on the driver's side wheel well. From the rotor outer face to the shock is 6 3/4" on either side. On my new wheels ET 53 I have about 1/4" clearance to the shock. If you look at the bracket that holds the wires for the ABS and Brake wear sensors they are 7" on the driver's side but only 6 3/8" on the passenger side from the rotor face. Also the fill pipe for the gas tank is only 6 1/2" inch from the rotor face. My tire actually touches the fender liner in full droop but has a little clearance at ride height. That is one possible source for it to rub. You may be able to pull the fender liner away from the wheel/tire at the bracket for the sensor wires but it does not look like you will be able to do much to pull the liner back at the fill pipe.

Mine also looks like it might rub the fender lip but I have not had in out on the street yet to find out if it will rub under compression. I have Michelin PSS in 275/30R19 on 10" wide wheels and lowered on H&R springs same as you but full drop in the rear and not using the thicker spring pad. It is a tight fit for sure.

Awesome infos Mort.. I knew it had something to do with the weight of the battery cuz it's too strange to have the rubbing on only 1 side.

U should be ok with ur 19x10 +53mm w/275/30 & H&R.. My SV1 didn't rub, if it did, it was very slightly on that same side. Did u post pics of ur new wheels yet? Can't wait to see them, it's going to be epic!! Lol
