Can't believe i'm making a thread like this already.. please help

My car starts fine and there are no CEL lights coming on. However, it will not move even when it is not in park. E.g., I turn it on, release the parking break, let it sit a sec, then shift to drive. It doesnt move. I shift to reverse and it doesnt move. I can feel it click into reverse gear and it moves back slightly but if I take my foot off the break, it doesnt move.

Initially I thought the parking break was stuck but if i give it a small amount of gas/rpm in park, the car shakes. i drove it this morning, it was purring like a champ. I came back this afternoon to go out to do some errands and this.. once again, there are no errors on the dash at all. i just had it cleaned and waxed today also..... any suggestions?

summary:

-car starts without codes
-parking break doesnt seem to be stuck
-no movement in R or D
-shakes when very small RPMs given in park (1.5k)

please help!

i just tried giving it some gas in drive to 1500 rpms. it made a popping sound and broke free! there are still no codes and now its just fine. i shut it back down, reapplied the parking break and released and it seem ok. maybe i'm wrong and it wasnt shaking; perhaps the revs in park that seem to "shake" are simply centripetal force from the engine cylinders firing and im attributing it to a shake.

i had the hood up while i was in park and its making a ticking sound. maybe its because ive never listened to the sound of the engine while the hood is up and i am paranoid. i uploaded a video. am i paranoid or am i good to go? video of engine /....

it sounds like youre having transmission problems....if the parking brake was stuck you would feel the car trying to drag it self along....

If yiu drove it hard right before you put it away the pads could've melted to the rotors and the snapped free when you gave it gas

When I washed my car and parked it overnight pads would stick to rotors and would hold the car, even in D.

I agree with dodgers, sounds like ur pads got seized on ur rotors for some reasons (chemicals or bad rust). It happened to my commercial truck a lot in winter time.

This happened to me but it was in the winter and froze actually. The oly other thing was maybe you put the brake down too hard and the "Hold" sign went on. If thats the case your fort can come off the brake pedal but the car still won't move. -Glad you got it working though.

After I wash the car, if I leave it for a couple of days, I have the same issue. It is just the pads binding on surface corrosion from the wash. It is a nothing.

After washing the car, always take a spin around the block, braking at regular intervals to keep the rotors from rusting and possibly seizing with pads.

Also never never never use the parking brake if you have just parked the car after a drive where you were aggressively braking.

It's normal the pad and rotor are getting rusted together... no big deal just give it a bit of gas and then drive around and apply the brakes more often and it will remove any rust that's built up from having the car sit around.

BTW that ticking sound is normal... nothing to worry about... let me guess your runing 0W40 Euro formula... next oil change bump it up to 5W40 and that ticking will be gone.

thats exactly right. Mobil 1 0w40! i am ok with the ticking as long as its normal. its running like a champ today except for the 370z and 335i owners with something to prove. annoying.

thank you again all.

Very true... I have seen pads melt and fuse to the caliper at the track because someone forgot and pulled their parking brake. I would be surprised if aggressive street driving could get the temperatures that high but I guess it would be possible.

It happened with me twice, just after I went on a business trip for 4+ days (leaved the car with the parking brake on) and when I came back tried to get off the parking lot the car made this awful sound, like a grind. It started to move slowly, and I freaked out (the first time). I jumped off the car and saw this rust coat over the discs. Then I realized that the corrosion was the cause. Its normal on environments with high humidity (such as in Florida).
