Who's BS Got Taken for a Joyride?
Some real drama queens on here. The owner doesn't owe anyone anything. And to be frank, going by the tone of his posts, this whole "ordeal" was blown way out of proportion and he was completely willing to let it go as no real harm was done to the car anyway.
This Black Series is now officially famous

Actually the Autoblog article was picked up after a member here caught it on Youtube and it was never on Jalopnik. You need to get your facts straight. And since the membership here was the driving force behind uncovering this mess and bringing it to the attention of the dealership; the resulting resolution/compensation should be made public. But it would seem that the new owner of this car is not willing to discuss it and from the following is also an ungrateful jerk.
Maybe it's you that is the ungrateful jerk... The owner of the vehicle has absolutely NO obligation to disclose the resolution/compensation!

At this point, no one should care about who should get the credit for the compensation as the owner is walking away with an awesome car with extra "goodies" from this.
The only losing party in this ordeal is the dealership as this incident is all over the net now. I got friends driving all sort of cars e-mailing me links about videos posted on different sites... not good for Star Motors for sure.
I just thought it would have been nice if he thanked us for helping him realize what was done, which allowed him to gain compensation. Imagine the car has Tanny problems, or the LSD which only has a limited lifespan anyways fails early... theres a few $K outta the pocket. The guy seems like a huge dick anyways so it doesn't matter to me anymore.
There is nothing out of pocket for tranny or LSD.....4 year/80K warranty
Leave the guy alone already and let him enjoy his new purchase
The Best of Mercedes & AMG

By the way, It was this thread that Autoblog found, because they did put it reference to mbworld.org at the end.
it's really no one business.

I wish COMAND had a tracking mode that would record the path and driving conditions of the vehicle while it was in service in such a way that it couldn't be removed by the joker taking it for a spin.
Let's just chill out and hope the owner is enjoying his new ride and be glad that our effort as a community prevented a unforgivable matter from being hidden to the public =)
This sort of stuff should NOT happen.
The response by the owner is to be admired, no doubt about that.....however, mine would be somewhat different.
The owner seems to be a guy who has done well in life, & this car may be simply "another car" to him.....so he may not be as emotionally "attached" to his new car as I would be......NOTHING wrong with that either. But, for sure, I would be really unhappy.....because this would be a "once in a lifetime" purchase for me, & for someone to treat MY car like that, would well, at least, it'd cause me to be very angry.
Cheers, Pickles.

It did its purpose and no need to go on......
