What's the next 'step up' after the C63 AMG?

Have you seen this yet? 2013 GT-R ran a 10.87 @ 125 mph stock? Very crazy.

I would also consider the GT-R for my next car. But I won't be getting a new car until around 2015/2016. I actually plan on holding onto the C63 till then. By that time the GT-R may be even faster. I would also consider the next C63 platform or possibly E63.

2011 C63 Sedan White on Black
realistically a 2012 C63 sedan.. to be honest the C has all I can expect in a DD, I only need a better interior and the ipod interface on the comand screen
if I got the money straight up SLS, also looking forward to the DBS replacement

Yeah, the ZR1 is awesome in its own right. That would be a cool next car but I like having a back seat, even a small one like in the GT-R.

I only have my C63 for about 2 months and already thinking what I want next. I normally change every 2-3 years so I have some time to think about it!
I have a few scenarios depending on my situation with my family! I think I would go between the R8 and the M5 or CLS/E63TT

C63 AMG Coupe
A few people have brought up the GT3. It's my favorite sports car. As a former GT3 owner, I wouldn't place the C63 and GT3 in the same category. They are totally different and have a different purpose. The GT3 is a track weapon and will take all the abuse you can throw at it, while the C63 makes such a great driver around town.
While you certainly can DD a GT3, it's not really designed for that and a pretty big compromise. Though, the 997.2 is more refined and can be equipped with front axle lift/dynamic engine mounts to make it more street friendly.
I think the next step up would be a 991 Carrera S. The performance is almost as good as the 997.2 GT3 and it's a great street ride. You'll miss the AMG torque, but Porsche makes the best overall packages. They really have the formula down.
As another note, I'm really unimpressed with the SLS. I like my C class better! I was infatuated with it until I had a chance to spend some time in the cockpit. I would pass, especially if you're over 6' tall.

The obvious issue is that the C class AMG is the best bang for the buck when it comes to imports. One has to spent at least another $25K to get something considered like a step up.
I think everyone has already discussed the favorites.
AM Vantage (however you have to settle for a lot less hp and acceleration but it makes it up with charm and the exhaust sound track is even better than ours IMHO).
New Viper
CLS or BSC63
R8 V10 but the lack of storage is probably a killer for me.

I am thinking at the end of my lease, another C63 sedan. Nothing really competes with it in my eyes for price.
As I do have a growing family, I see an in-between step, a car between the C63 and E63 as the XFR. Nearly got one last time around and in Canada it fite perfectly between the C and the E. A C63 is 65K, XFR 85K and E63 105K. My nexy one will be one of these three plus the CLS63.
Everyone and their mother in Ottawa is driving an effing C Class...it's disgusting. They are everywhere like an epidemic. The new C63 blends in too well which is kind of disappointing for me. I like a car that sticks out a bit like the 1st gen C63...not that it would stop me from getting another, just a minor lament.
I may go Jag just to have something different.

I bought the car because of the motor and the practicality. What I feel to be a supercar calibre motor in a 4 door car with MB fit and finish.
I've had it for a year and a half now and still love it... but since I've been in a habit of changing cars every 3 years or so I've been thinking about what's next and for the first time in my automotive ownership career I think I'm at a true crossroads.
To get more performance and luxury there are precious few cars that deliver it in the same package. E63, F10 M5 or CLS63 are the only ones that come to mind and they are bigger 'old man cars' in my books. I also doubt they'd be as nimble.
I honestly think the next step up will be super expensive because I'll have to get two cars - one luxury car and one performance-minded car. Like a combo of a CLS550 + a 3 or 4 year old GT3 / F430 / R8 V10.
But with 487hp + 444ft/lbs under foot every day I'm in no hurry. It's really rare for me to wind it out to the end of 3rd gear at WOT in the city anyways so spending a lot more money and sacrificing a lot more practicality seems a bit silly. Maybe I need to lust after something else other than cars?

I would see the E63 and M5 as the next (direct) step up in price point - and Im going to go back to BMW this time around - who knows what will be next in 4 years - back to AMG?

Well Im looking at it in terms of moving up within the same class - keep in mind I have an '09 sedan and I don't do any performance mods, so I look at numbers based on stock. Going from the auto tranny to DCT will be an upgrade - more horses and torque and newer technology. I dont see Porsche as the same class since I have the sedan, perhaps if you have the coupe.

While I do love Astons, and they are incredibly sexy, you'll find them a step down from AMG in performance and handling. I'd stay away, unless you are ok with that.
Having driven M's (and I do love them), I'd avoid that too as I don't consider them a step up from AMG.
AMG itself is a step up from AMG, as others noted... C63 -> SLS, etc.

At this point I don't think it's going to be a "step up", more like "adding a toy". I'm thinking I'll keep the C63 (or something like it) in the stable and have an exotic for fun.
My coupe isn't even here yet and I'm already considering what else I'm going to get. Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, R8, next gen GT-R...?

my next step was to build my C63 into a monster , which i have already taken that huge step thanks to Weistec
if i was near a good track , the decision may have gone a different route but i think i am in for a great time with my new 4-door monster
