Congrats on the car....I just picked mine up like a day after you...the wheel and tire protection package price where I bought mine was $1500. I declined. Anyway my point is I guess it is up to the dealer what they want to charge for this plan and not set by MB!

Thanks everyone for the replies. So I talked to MB and they said it is non-negotiable and that their plan is the wheel and tire protection PLUS which covers scratches/curb rash so if it ever gets damaged I can come in and they will fix the rim.
yamibear-nice to know there are fellow members on here that go to MB Manhattan. were you there to have your car worked on? or purchase a new vehicle?

I wouldn't say hours of negotiating. I went back and forth a couple times with the salesman and then he brought out the manager who gave me the best deal he could which was the final price. They didn't give in easily but I do appreciate the salesman who cut to the chase and just brought the manager out. I definitely had a good experience overall though. Everyone at MB Manhattan was very nice!

Thanks. I just found one online I like with a $71k MSRP, and I would like to just walk in and say $64k and lets write it up. I hate the back and forth games. Most always try to start at MSRP with their first offer to me, and it just puts me in a bad mood knowing that nobody is paying sticker for these things!

I actually enjoy the back and forth things...I look at it as a bit of a game. Anyways I know most people don't enjoy doing it hence the reason why they always ask me to negotiate for them. Anyways good luck with negotiating the car. I hope they don't give you much resistance!

Negotiations via phone/email are quicker/smoother. If you've seen the car, expressed an interest, and are sitting there waiting on them they feel they've "got you". They need to give you incentive to come in.

I have read that tires are only covered if you buy OEM size, so I think I will cancel since I want to get bigger tires..
Paid 4900 for 7 yr/100k extended warranty also.. 26xx for 5 year prepaid maintence..
Damn, I really like your color. I was going to get that but they took it out for sedan. Color was the hardest thing to choose!!!
Your car is a beauty! What a great upgrade from an IS

^^ LOL... Actually, I wouldn't sleep good knowing I spent that much money to the dealer for all the extra protection.. in my opinion, they are overpriced & the only winner at the end of it is the stealer. Just my opinion though.

The problem with extended protection plans are the fine prints. Be sure you understand what is covered & what is not.
Look at this example about pre-paid maintenance:

Do yourself a huge favour.. get your hood covered in clear vinyl or some other protection.. my hood (steel grey as well), looks like a war zone from driving the DC beltway daily. The paint is really thin and chips easily.

So i'm getting my car "paint protected" with the 3m clear bra material. So far I plan on getting the front bumper, fenders, mirrors, doors and rear bumper. As far as the hood the plan is just the front part of the hood, however, as the prior post suggests is it necessary to do the whole hood? I figure the front part of the hood is the most susceptible to rock chips.

Wheel repair seems like a bad bet. You're gambling that you will need more than $1800 in repairs while you own the car. (if no deductible, could be more).
There are wheel shops here that will recondition curb rash for $100 to $200 per wheel.

I always think its better to show up, act serious if you want the car and be willing to walk.. you have all the negotiating power if you use it right
