2012 C63 AMG Black Series
They did do a good job but that is just not for me! I plastidiped my winter rims and I know the durability of this stuff... Its good but I couldn't see a whole car being done in it. Out of curiosity why did you stick with black plastidip? Why not red or white?? I did my rear 63 emblem in red and it looks great! I might consider plastidiping a 90s honda but a brand new AMG!?!? Just awful IMO

I'm sorry, as much as I'd like to post a positive commment.. I just can't! The new color is kind of disgusting. Maybe I would've like it if it was white or red. You can't go wrong with these colors. Also matte pink is gorgeous lol

I think the people who are saying it's disgusting and gross are being a wee bit harsh.

The pink and gold SLK on the homepage a few days ago was disgusting.

This, it's just different. Maybe not to the AMG crowd, but as the owner of just another C300 it definitely looks unique.

I commend you for your bravery (hard to make plasti dip look clean) and the love you have for your wife. =O)

Though I wouldn't do it. I can appreciate the work that went into it!

2 thumbs up from me!

Looks great IMHO.

Unique. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If the wife loves it, that's all that matters really.

He could do it a couple times and still be cheaper than a real wrap. Still, I wonder how this would hold up versus a real film..

Not a fan of the color but if he didn't tell me it was plastidipped I wouldn't have known. Looks like they did a good job on it.

Wow

I own a body shop and a car lot. I was at the lauderdale auction last week and saw a 745 that was white painted black... Yea.. It was peeling off in chunks. I tried to peel it and it came off in little bits what a pain. How are your door jambs? Filled with overspray? I watched the owner of the company spray an Audi. He suggests using painters tape, newspaper and a bed sheet to mask it off. No prep work and heck.. Spray right over everything light headlights and exhaust... Please...

Congrats on your new AMG. Love the new finish. Going to RENNtech, do mention my name as they are also friends, ask for Bob Brady or Hartmut, the owner.

Hello Eddy, you are the same eddy I met while picking up the SLK, right? If so, I really appreciate your help and introducing me to Bob. It was a pleasure talking shop with you. I will certainly tell the boys at Renntech that I have the pleasure of knowing you You know it was that SLS that got this idea into my wife's head.

AMGs Forever

Yes I am. Bob told me how happy & nice you folks were. My C63C is due, per them, in late Oct... Can't wait. Actually Hartmut/RENNtech wrote me last week about my new car as they knew I had ordered and they have done several others for me in the past..

Enjoy,
Ep

So like the title says, my wife hated that her SLK was black. Unfortunately, the only non black SLK55 in the country was in LA and was 12K more than what we payed sans the shipping costs. If she wanted the car, it had to be black. I was doing a little research on wrapping the car and came across plastidip. I found a youtube video of a guy named Fonzie using plastidip on the entire car After digging around a little more, I see he runs a company named plastidipyourcar dot com and he seems to have perfected this method. I noticed that the company was located near me in Coral Springs FL, so I decided to give them a call. I brought the car over there and they showed me some examples of their work and explained how the company began. The guys that work there are top notch, they made me feel completely comfortable about the process and I never felt pushed to give it a try. After finding out that the cost would be 1/4th of a wrap and it is fully reversible, I decided to give it a shot. I dropped the car off and waited anxiously for the results. Well, here they are. Oh, and they will be coming out with a satin finish in a few months. I might try that on the C.
I like it. Is that the black or gunmetal color?

Wow..you buy your wife a new AMG and she complains about the color..time for a new wife, I don't understand that entitlement mentality.

I would be happy if I was given a new Corolla, let alone a new AMG.

I like my paint shiny..I don't get the whole Plastidip / matte black finish...but so long as you like it.

well it's not like it's paint ... you don't really have to prep the surface since your basically just wet shrink wrapping the car ... and since it peels off .... why worry about the headlights ... did you watch the video ??? it peeled right off the light without any issue ... since it never actually bonds to the car itself. I'm not trying to discredit you in any ways... just want to make sure people realize that this is not paint, nor should they expect the same results. As for the materials he uses ... i think that's mainly to show how accessible this is to anyone with very few resources.

One last note... if you plasti dip your car ... buy a power washer to remove it ... makes life a 1000 times easier LOL

home the point
Looks sick. I would love to know how well it stands up to washing, sun, weather and just general exposure to the outdoors.
