AMG Private Lounge Survey
I received an email request from the AMG Private Lounge to fill in a survey looking at options for the C63.
Just wondering if everyone got the invite?

yep.
didnt add any suggestions although sheep, biglee and mak have some good suggestions (other than the cylinder deactivation...srsly!)
good to see amg asking suggestions from owners. should have put down for them to keep an N/A engine!

Got it, I suggested wider tires, 550 hp, Hud!
Oh and my biggest gripe the freakin cup holder location. I also don't like that you can't lock the steering wheel buttons to only control the stereo like changing the track or preset stations.
Why does it seem that Mercedes always makes the cup holders as a "whoops we forgot about cupholders well lets just put them here" atleast the C class doesn't have the stupid flipout holder like it used to.

Why did no one suggest a DCT? That would be the single best (maybe a tie with wider tires) improvement to the C63. Maybe many here haven't driven a DCT/DSG/PDK car but those transmissions are amazing... all of the versatility and performance of a true manual but with auto mode for the non-track oriented more "mature" customers (I didn't say older
)

The DCT is better in every way compared to the MCT. It is faster, more responsive, reacts and feels like a real manual. Try this in the C63... in 5th gear, click the downshift paddle 3 times quickly. In the C63, you end up in 4th gear as it needs to engage the next gear before continuing. In the M3 with a real DCT, you click 3 times quickly and you are instantly in 2nd. You can hold the downshift lever in the C63 and the car will go 5th... 4th... 3rd... 2nd but will engage each gear (albeit quickly). A good DCT never misses a shift (i.e. you never hit the rev limiter because you shift a fraction of a second too late), you can up and down shift multiple gears instantly by multiple clicks, and every command happens as though it is telepathic to the transmission from your brain. The M3 transmission doesn't overheat on the track either...

The MCT is good but if anyone says it is as good as a DCT, they are dreaming. It might be better in pure auto mode... maybe... but that doesn't matter to anyone who tracks their cars or drives very aggressively in manual mode. The M3 defaulted to Manual mode on start up. The C63 defaults to auto C mode. That says something about how MB and BMW believe their respective transmissions will be used. I do believe the C63 is the best overall car (for me anyway) but it is a margin behind BMW/Porsche/Audi in the transmission department.

I never said it was better I just said what I saw/heard! I though it was a funny comment from a "car guy". Chris Harris says he "Prefers it to a DCT" ... he never said it was better either. Hold the pee in your pants a bit longer. jks
