I had my resonators removed, so the cold start was long and loud and afterwards the idling is pretty obnoxious too.

But these few days it's just been a short "Vroom..." and then idles pretty calm.

Still considering if I should let Mercedes have a look, cuz the car drives perfectly fine and loud

I just hope if i take it to Mercedes for a look at, they don't blame it on the resonator delete lol. The M.benz of Vancouver Richmond are *****es!

I'm not sure if all 09's or just some of them would only start up in Sport mode if you drove it relatively "sporty" in Sport or Manual mode prior to turning the car off.

What you can do is log the engine oil temperature upon every start up. When it barks, note the temp. When it isn't loud, note the temp.

Also, keep in mind how long the car sat prior to being turned on.

80*F should be the magic number.

Interesting...I hadn't noticed. Hopefully, I'll finally get my car back tomorrow and I'll keep an eye out. One thing I wish it would do is keep the dash display the same. I'd rather have it default to the AMG/temp screen than any of the others.

when you say "barks" do you mean when it makes sort of a quick rattle from the engine bay?

No, the cold start sound from the exhaust.

my condo garage in FL is like 90F

oil temp rarely gets low enough to get a cold start unless the car sits for more than 36-48 hours. otherwise its a "normal" start

In Florida "winter" I start the car with the garage door down with respect to my neighbors. This time of year it starts up like a Camry.

So today's weather is much warmer than the past 3 days, hella sunny today.. But to my surprise the cold start is loud again I know its normal.. when it wakes up my gf on the upper floor on the other side of the house

It's weird.. guess my car just decide to be lazy for the past 3 days? I know time isn't an issue because i get home at 7 pm everyday and let it sit until 8 am the next morning.

I'll have to see tomorrow..

Ditto!! may have 3k by now...............

OP Since you just got an oil change may be they put too much in. Happened to me. This would have an impact on that start up growl.
