Black Series Encounter
The coolest thing to this point in my automotive life just happened: I was driving in my C63 Black Series to get a haircut when I see a camouflaged A-Class Mercedes AMG with Michigan manufacturer plates (and a passenger seat full of vehicle analysis equipment). As I rolled by, traffic forcing me to keep moving, I honked and gave the test driver a thumbs up. At the next light, we stop next to each other; he rolls down his window and says, "you have the best car we've ever made." He said it in a German accent to boot. It made my decade. #epicwin.

Please tell me the A45 AMG is coming to North America, so I can cancel my Audi S5 order.
So tell me, how does the car look in person? Size? Is it about the same size as a VW GTI?

In fact, currently Mercedes has no plans to bring the A series to the US at all.
For some reason.. we never got the cool hatchbacks (I really want the Ford Focus RS500 which is also never coming to the US...)

Lame. Part of the reason why Minis are so popular are because they're well built, small, but still utilitarian. Way better than Smart Cars, Fiat 500, Scion IQ, etc. Not that I have anything against those cars, they're just too impractical for the US, IMO. Smart Cars were never designed to go on freeways.

MBUSA / Diamler at large test TONS of vehicles in Denver. I've seen CLSs, and there was a baby CLS (so I was told) at a local Starbucks that disappeared before I could see it.
Haha - great point - I've got to get into that mindset!

The base A Classes are coming though, MY2014, so we'll see 'em summer/fall of next year.

That's different. Base model vs. base model, I still think the Mini is better/more practical.

As for the A class coming to the US.. well.. that is an interesting question.
Some of the more mainstream presses (USA Today for example) have stated it will be coming to the US, and will be the new entry level MB for consumers, but at the same time, most of the current auto publications state the opposite..
I guess until we get something official from MB, we won't really know.

That changed yesterday when I went to pick up my C63 and the dealer had a sls in the service bay as it just got traded in by a customer. I got to spend a few minutes with it and instantly realize yes... this car is truly special. The BS version of it will only enhance it further
