Steering Wheel Shudder (at a stop)
I've only had my car for a month and a half, and only have about a month and a half of full warranty left (before CPO kicks in). My point is I'm new to the car, but it has 48K on the odo.
Anyway, I recently discovered that when I turn the steering wheel from far left to far right (or vice versa) I get some significant steering wheel shudder or shimmy towards the end of the steering wheel motion. I notice this naturally driving when I back out of a parking spot, and need to swing the wheels around to drive straight after backing out.
Testing this I noticed it at a stand still, and it happens pretty much every time. Is this normal? Does everyone notice this? If so, then I'm less concerned. If no one else has this happen then I'll need to ask the dealer to check it out while I still have 100% coverage.
Thoughts?

I thought it may be, but it happens on many surfaces and just doesn't seem natural. Never observed it so consistently with any other car prior. Maybe I'll go to the dealer and ask to take a look at their CPO '09 C63 and compare.

I notice this without the brakes being applied as well.

I think that when you reach the end of the travel in the steering (full lock) there is a high pressure building up in the power steering system. The system has a pressure relief valve that opens when the pressure builds past a set limit. I think it is the pressure relief valve opening that you are hearing. It is very hard on the power steering system to push it past this point and as soon as you hear a shudder in he system you should back off the steering a little. At that mileage on your car your power steering pump may be wearing out and not capable of operating at full capacity. I would have it inspected by the dealer and see what they think. The power steering pump may need to be replaced.

We'll, see... it's at the dealer today for some other items, so I threw that into the mix.
I'll let you know what they come back with (probably just "no issues found").

I'll keep an eye on it, and if it continues to seem "wrong" bring it back in, and demonstrate the issue. I just have about 1.75 months to do it with the factory warranty! Not sure the CPO would cover the issue.

I remember reading somewhere that the 2011-2008 have an issue with one of the bolts to a strut arm or steering knuckle (i forget what it was) but theres suppose to be two bolts but one falls out in our early model cars and is like a stupid issue. I dunno it happens to my car on the right side and I think about it all the time. Like that car is going over some lump in the steel and drops back down.
