Loving the active forum!
Hello everyone,
Been looking at this forum for quite a while, i love how everyone here is very helpful and active unlike other forums its just quiet there! A quick summary about myself... I LOVE CARS and thats its.
Im planning on getting a car around this time next year, i was first looking at the C63 coupe and loved it, but then saw the new CLS and started to get confused. I know they are two total different cars, since i wouldnt be getting the AMG version of the CLS i guess i cant compare the C63 with the CLS550 as well. But i would like to have some feedback on people who tried both cars? Looks i guess it depends on your taste but the engine im quite sure there is no competition, the C63 is a rocket. Ive also read that the next generation C comes out next year any pics or info about that?
Another thing about the price, i realise the CLS costs more but theres not much difference.. I also looked into the Edition 1 and loved it but didnt read about it much.
PS - i also started thinking i dont need another 2 door since i have 1, that was the reason i looked into the CLS more.
I would really appreciate your input.

All of these cars feel special.
It depends on you whether you are willing to sacrifice ride comfort (CLS) for performance, sound and handling (C63).

The CLS 550's M278 engine is actually more powerful than the C63's. But, the car is heavier than the C63. The CLS is more luxurious and offers a softer ride--as others have mentioned.
The C63 is a fairly loud car in stock form. The ride is a bit rough at times, but some prefer this type of suspension. The C63 is all about feel and it is quite rewarding to drive. I imagine the CLS is very comfortable to drive and it is still fast.

I bought my C63 exactly 50 days ago. Everytime I turn her on, I smile. When I have her in S+ and she downshifts and rev matches, it sounds amazing, and I smile. The way the car feels, not big, but not super small either, makes me smile. Walking up to her and opening the door, makes me smile. If you haven't got the impression yet, I've been smiling alot. I also can't imagine this feeling growing on me and make me stop smiling. Given the cost, my friends (Im 24, most are around, above 30) all would have gotten a CLS and asked me why I didn't. At the end its preference, for them its more visual style and when pulling up people are like wow. For me, its the driving experience, its not about what others are seeing, its all for me and what I'm feeling (those smiles again). In the end its like what everyone says, do you want a luxorious comfortable ride that will get you from point A to point B, or do you want something louder, more thrilling and while not as luxorious, still plenty luxorious that will make you get from point A to point B and then make you want to instantly go to points C D, E......you get my point.

I had a CLS550 as a loaner a couple of months back. The CLS is very quick and handles amazingly well for its size. The interior is amazing and has all the toys including the Active Seats which are amazing.
The CLS I drove was a 4Matic and the major difference was at the limit. I took a stretch of twisty road that I usually take with my C63 at about 120, and I was easily doing it at 130-140 in the CLS. When the C63 starts getting a little squirly, the CLS had an insane amount of grip.
The C63 is a composed and tight muscle car. The CLS is a super sedan

I would look elsewhere.. I wouldn't even buy a 2013 C63 now... Its at the end of its life and the new one is coming out in a few years.. I always go for the newest refresh design (CLS in this case), the only reason I traded my 10 for a 12 is because my lease payments went down and when my lease expires in a 24 more months the new one should be out.

Thank you all, i get it its all about preference and what i really want. I hope by the next few months ill have my decision. If i didnt have a sport car already it wouldve been easier for me to decide and just go for the C63 but it should also be easy choosing the CLS since a (fast) car is already in my garage.

Well if you have a Vantage, that changes things. That car is gorgeous, sounds amazing, and im sure is plenty fast haha. If you want a more well rounded garage, then I think you should definitely give the CLS a solid look.

I've driven the newest CLS63 AMG and I have to say it was one of the most surprising things I have experienced. All of the driver aids are amazing (vibrating wheel when changing lanes with no signal on, blind spot sensors, auto braking, etc) and if the 550 is even decently close to the same power level as the AMG I'd say go for it. You already have the performance coupe garage slot filled with that Vantage.
