I realized a bit too late that the "leftover" 2011 C63 I bought earlier this year would get me into the basic AMG Academy course free of charge. I called a few weeks ago and was told that all the dates at every US venue were booked solid! I put my name on the waiting list, but wasn't expecting much.

AND THEN.....I got a call from AMG Academy yesterday and was told that they have a seat available!! So now I am officially confirmed for Thursday, Oct 25 at the Auto Club Speedway. I am so excited!

Is anyone from the forum attending the event at Auto Club Speedway that day? Do they let you drive the SLS even in the basic course? Any tips/suggestions are welcome!

Update: I was able to reschedule for Sunday 10/28. Hope to see some MBWorld members there!

I did the academy in Canada, and yes u get to drive the SLS along with all the AMG fleets even for the basic course.

Keep in mind this event is not about racing, more about learning the right technique on the track.

VMX, I'm going on the 28th. Might see you at PL on the 27th if you are going. I was scheduled for SECA on 9/23 but it was moved on a weekday and could not make it so they accommodated me at Autoclub speedway. It should be a great week!

Congrats VMX, I was in the same exact boat and I got a call a couple days ago that I was all set to go but on Friday the 26th! Best phone call I've ever received.

The exact same thing happened to me. I had just realized that the Dallas AMG Academy @ Texas Motor Speedway was this weekend. One other member tried to give his spot to me, but MB/AMG would not let it transfer. Anyway, for the hell of it, I filled out all paperwork to sit on the waiting list.

Today, I was called and offered a spot. I have cleared my weekend and will be heading to Dallas tonight. I cannot believe that it worked. WOW!!! I will fill in details when I'm back.

In Laguna Seca, I had a good number of laps with the sls. I expect no less for their similar events. Enjoy your event.

AMG academy opened up 3 more days (Oct 9-11) for the basic course at Laguna Seca so I switched from Auto Club Speedway to Laguna. Hopefully I can drive on the corkscrew

I was able to change my date to Sunday Oct 28. Woohoo! Wasn't looking forward to driving to Fontana on a weekday.

The car is basically done. waiting on my HRE wheels sir. taking a while to be made. but was hoping have it back by me bday next week but no. so pushing end month. we should meet up before hand to drive there. its a LONG DRIVE kinda.
