I downloaded the excel spreadsheet for Pilot Super Sport tires from Michelin's website and trimmed it down to tires that could be of interest to us. They didn't have tread width info like tire rack, but there are some useful facts in the data.

Glad I ran across this thread before I run out tomorrow and replace the OE Conti's. Great info and informed opinions from all.

Going to try the 245/275 PSS setup. I'll take some before and after shots to post from all angles since it seems to be a common request.

Thanks man, I would appreciate a shot from directly in back so we can see how meaty they look from behind...

Great info. Thanks for posting the table.

3.59 lbs difference per tire between 255's and 275's. When measuring straight line performance, would the extra contact patch of the 275's offset the extra lbs of unsprung weight?

I know I prefer less unsprung weight.

Obviously expected performance of a tire has to do with many factors, but don't confuse wider thread width with increased contact patch surface area. Contact patch is related to load and inflation pressure and not directly with thread width. If a wider tire increases the width of the contact patch, its length becomes shorter and its overall effective surface area remains unchanged.

I will try to quote skip barber driver training material over the weekend regarding this issue, but here's an article that's neat:

Seeing as how the C63's main limiting factor is traction...get thee some drag radials

i dont think 7 lbs split evenly over the rear half of the car will affect performance in any significant way while getting more tire width..............

C63 Coupe Edition 1
One thing I've been wondering and hopefully someone here has some experience with it is does having the front width be as close to the rear width help with the balance of the car on the C63?

For example, does the car feel more balanced in the corners running 245 fronts and 255 rears compared to 275 rears?

No, this car needs more grip in the rear. Track width has nothing to do with balance, weight distribution does.

1.) This is subjective, I think it looks fine.
2.) Both work the same, you'll get a little more grip from 275's having a larger contact patch.
3.) No rubbing with either on stock wheels with stock suspension.

Here is a photo of my 275 PSS on my stock wheels at stock height.

The stock tire on these wheels are 245, right? But you were able to put a 275 on the same wheel?

Stock is 235/255

Most users have no problems fitting a 275 on stock rims 19x9'. Youll get better contact patch with wider aftermarket rims though, 9.5 or 10' goes well with 275 / 285 (questionable fitment)
