Yeah, this inspection requirement (in Canada) is a non-sense... seems to be a way for MB to make more money. I mean if the car is under warranty, why in the world would the car owner have to spend 300$ to have his car inspected for problems before buying the ELW... if the car has problems, the basic warranty will fix it regardless. So useless.

Edit: Or maybe it's to make sure we dont shop for price from dealership across the country?? Who knows...

i've had my car (2010) for about 26-27 months and i'm almost at 45k miles... this means i average almost 21k miles a year... is it even worth it for me to extend my warranty to 3/75k... i would probably reach 75k in less than 2 years...

or should i shop for a good deal on 3yr/100k to be safe?

Stop hoping. It's 100% negotiable. Also, I highly recommend you search on this board for older posts about the MB ELW. And, also, call up all your dealerships in your area (in the entire state). I've gone as far out as NY for quotes.

There are hundreds (close to 1000?) MB dealerships in the US.

I just bought a 2013 ML350 and because I plan to keep it for at least 7 years I want to purchase an extended warranty. My dealer says if I do not get it within 30 days there is a 15% surcharge tacked on. I have not been able to find those exact numbers anywhere and my dealer will not budge one inch on the price.
Do you have to purchase the extended warranty from your dealer?
If I wait several years before purchasing is it still a 15%(?) surcharge or does the surcharge increase each year.
Thanks

My factory warranty is expiring in six months. If someone here is from Southern California can you please reply with the dealership name and city where you got your cheaper extended warranty from?

I got quoted $3,500 for 3 years / 75,000 miles from Flethcher Jones in Newport Beach.

"Surcharge may apply ...." operative word being may. And it doesn't say anything about 15%. There is latitude and prices are negotiable. So again I say salesman BS. I purchased mine when my car was one year old and paid a lot less than prices quoted to bluejay and hawtheric1.

My 09 has about 2 months (or 1,500 miles) before my warranty expires. Assuming its $3,000+ for 2yrs/100k miles I think I am going to forgo extending the warranty but if anyone has had success getting a great deal on an extended factory warranty for their C63 please let me know!

it's no different than paying different prices for the same cars. it's not salesman bs, it's capitalism. lol. amazing. god forbid a business makes a profit.

the surcharge is in place from mercedes. they aren't going to say will apply because they could lose warranty sales. they leave it grey. all policies can be backed off, but why?

all they have to do is have a price that's competitive with other dealerships. do you work for your costs? I don't think you'd own a mercedes if you did....

Might I add that this can be financed for 0% for 18 months after a 10% down which kinda nice. They just bill your CC every month. So does anyone have a better deal?

Bringing this thread back from the dead:
I have a 3 year/135k extended warranty and I paid about $4400 for it. My question is: since I wont be hitting 135k in the next couple of years or before the extended warranty expires, can i return this warranty and buy the cheaper 3 year/75k warranty which costs around $2700? any ideas?

My understanding is this...I have a MB factory extended warranty. I can return it for a full refund if I do so prior to my original factory warranty expiration. After that it is prorated.

Don't see why not. See link above, as long as your original factory warranty is still in force.

Dont you guys in Us has the engine coverd in the insurance?

Here in Sweden my insurance will take care on any problems with for ex an engine failure up to 8 years or 100000km

So no need to extend our warranty over here. ( and not even possible)

Sorry; need to bump this thread. I received a quote from Mark Eggleston at Mercedes Georgetown but I haven't been able to get a hold of him all week.

Anyone else recently extend their warranty for under $3000?
