Thoughts on the new M5 vs my CLS63TT...

Lol I knew this would be coming.....
Get the m5. Keep the cls. Good buy rexus.
Aston rapides are nice but different. I had the chance to have one for a month courtesy of Aston Martin NA.
Performance is nothing compared to Amg and m cars. But it sounds great.

Let the fuel pump issue get fixed and get an M5 next month. CLS TT is a very nice car but changing it up is always a good thing and the F10 seemsms to have th edge in everything but noise and looks (subjective). Still puzzled why the M3 you'd seemed to really like went and not the IS-F?
Rather funny people quoting a Car and driver test that ranked that comparatively terrible S6 first. Also, no ***** Ms haven't been as tunable in the past. They were all NA. Jeez.
By the way, any chance of a driveway group shot of your collection Vic? A few of us could do with a new screensaver

Anyway, I agree that reviews are just reviews. What matters most is whether or not the car connects with you individually...drive, looks, etc. But a lot of the reviews of this M5 are not good. Pick your preferred source. In the past, seems most M cars have received great reviews throughout the years.

The V12V is probably a bit more competitive, but I still think the 911 is a better road-course car. That being said, they are some of the most gorgeous cars on the market. And one of the best sounding.
I agree on the Rexus....I had an Lexus RX-450H when living in France, and it was mind-numbingly dull to drive. My wife liked it....I found it quite dull.
Then again, she hates the Range Rover.
I'm a huge, huge BMW fan. But I think I'd stick with the CLS63. I've become more of a Mercedes fan lately....must be the intoxicating sound of that engine.

Thanks guys for the input... I appreciate your honest thoughts and as expected, this forum did indeed deliver. I think I need to drive the F10 more and see it on the road.
Looks are very subjective and I absolutely agree that the CLS is more appealing. I think I need more seat time behind the F10 to truly gauge its driveability and involvement.
As for a the sound of the M5- at cold startup from the outside it sounded very good. I actually completely forgot about the "speaker exhaust" inside and didnt notice much, if any, internal noise but then again I forgot about that terrible feature.

I say keep your CLS 63. I have a CLS 550 2012 and its the best car I have owned so far. I was planning on changing it to the new M5, however my wife has been having issues with her 2011 X5 where the car has shut off three times while driving. Anyways, I am not liking BMW at the moment due to their quality and service, I am very dissapointed how they are handling the situation. I would keep the your CLS 63, otherwise buy the new SL 63. I am done with BMW.

The m3 and IS-F are in two different worlds---- The IS-F is a factory car that the other half drives so its not tradeable. The M3 lasted a year- not bad in my book

Vic you absolutely owe the rest of us commoners a full shot of your stunning collection of Beasts, maybe lined up or tail to tail circle whatever it may be we'd love to see them ALL together bra minus Rexus

I dont like the BMW M cars. I feel that the last good one was the E46 M3. I owned that car (6spd manual).
I dont like the exterior or interior design of the M cars. They are too common. And what really kills it for me is the fact that they syntesize exhaust sound and then push through the radio speakers. I honestly could just never get over that. The way I cant get over the way that the back of a Panamera looks. I took a ride in a GTS and it was so sweet from inside the car. But then look at that back end and forget about it, wont work!

i say keep the CLS, its a merc, but yeh it's a biased opinion .. M5.s interior is too similar to a diesel 5 series with M package, seats, dash, steering. In then end it boils down to what you feel like doing.
Now if they come out with a 4 door M6, that's going to be disgustingly good ..
PLEASE let us know if u want to get rid of that CLS

The grass may always be greener on the other side when it comes to cars, though I imagine M owners and AMG owners are both plenty happy with what they've got. When it comes to your flawed analogy of Android owners and iPhone owners, I beg to differ. The iPhone is outperformed in every measure these days, the only people that buy iPhones are those that are blatantly insecure, or have no idea about technology whatsoever. Pretty much any Android phone from 2010 completely trumps the iPhone 5 in all aspects. In terms of tech, the iPhone was left in the dust a long time ago.

Both iOS and Android OS are awesome in their own right, for their own ways.

A few reasons I personally maybe switching to an "M" preferably M6... Stock power is quite impressive I've seeen a couple other mags report 123 mph traps, C&D got 122 mph Trap & other owners have reported 1/4 mi @ 11.7 in bone stock w/crummy 1.80 60' easily a low 11.3x car in proper hands w/slicks & 1.60 60' etc..

Here's a great article on how the newTwin Scroll Turbos & new engine works & more importantly how it holds max boost thru nearly entire rev range from as low as 1000 rpm's... http://www.m-power.com/_open/s/varli...d=2723&lang=en
