Mike, sorry to say your engine is on the list. To be safe your engine # must be higher than 15698560060658. The last 6 digits are the sequence # for the engine and your # is 044936 which is well before 060658.

got the msg today but it went away after a while? is this msg like the blue screen of death? hahaha and mine is a 2012. i have nearly 14k on it, and only did service A otherwise I never filled it up. Does coolant actually get "used up"?

Did you leave your car outside for the night and it showed up at start-up?

It shows up on my dash every once in a while in the morning but only when it's extremely cold.
I added about 100ml of coolant today.

It wasn't particularly cold out or anything but I did park it for a while :/

Strange thing was mine literally just disappeared after a couple mins.

same here...message came twice. Once after long time parked, second time week after that. Don't remember weather but it's in a garage. I added distilled water, driven hard, no issues yet. (still have warranty)

If you're concerned about your engine, I don't think any '08s fall in the affected range.

The proper procedure per MBZ is to pressure test the coolant system overnight. Just topping off the coolant and "looking" at the oil is not doing you any good.

Where did You get this info?
If the 09 and early 10 have this issue, it would be logical to assume the 08 have it as well as the head bolts were redesigned in 2010.

On another note - has anyone heard of this issue happen to a Euro-spec C63 ?

Perhaps, but all if the cases that have come up have been '09 or '10 that we know of.

The sure thing is to call your local dealer, give them your vin, and have them check your engine number against the list of potentially affected engines. And even if you're on the list, like me, the odds are remote.
