Check coolant level message, am I screwed?
Hi guys,
So my car has 69 000 miles and just got the message today... Taking it to the stealer tomorrow to add coolant... Am I screwed?
Is it the head bolt issue that is starting to show up? Or maybe it's normal after that many miles to refill the coolant again?
Thanks...

I had the same message in my car about one year ago and nothing happened.
I wasn't aware of the whole headbolt issue back then.
Good luck

How many miles since the last service/coolant top up? I would not panic if you have done a lot of miles, if only a few thousand you should be concerned.

Exactly...If there is no leaks then it's going into the engine. Take it to the dealer and get it checked out ASAP. Don't let them just top it up and say its okay, especially if your warranty is running out. It happened to me at 78,000 km and boom, it was the headbolt issue. 20k in repairs my friend courtesy of MB CANADA

My car is already out of warranty. Just took it to the dealer and my SA checked the coolant level and he said it was fine, nothing is missing, might be a bad sensor. He also checked my oil to see if there is any white stuff (that's what happens when oil goes to the engine, he's aware of the head bolt issue), he told me my oil is normal. I still don't know... hopefully I will never see this message ever again

I had the same problem happen to my C63 a few weeks back and I'm only at 40K miles but still under warranty. The dealership refilled my coolant and took some oil to check for any coolant (not sure how they would do so without a used oil analysis). My car was returned and I was told that it was normal for a C63 to consume engine oil and coolant. If there were no leaks then the coolant must have gone somewhere. I'm still monitoring my situation but so far it seems I'm still losing coolant but the light has not come back on yet.

Had my car serviced today and I asked the tech to get me my engine number so I could check it against the "O-$h!t list".
Can someone tell me where my engine falls?
I've read that if your engine number is higher than 569xx 60 060658 you're safe.
This is what the tech gave me "engine serial number = 156.985.60061152"
Ahhh, okay, hmmmmm.
I can't make heads (no pun intended) or tails out of this number BS.
Help a brother out!
BTW my tech, who's an AMG tech, said they have already done 7-8 head bolt jobs on various m156 cars. They're the largest AMG service center in New England, so I'm sure they see a lot more m156s than a normal dealer. I counted three other m156s getting service today with mine

Your engine number is 56985 60 061152. You are not on the "oh sh$t" list. I also got lucky with my 2011.

Off topic, I test drove a CPO CL65 yesterday because I'm considering trading in my car if I get a killer deal, but the sound of the car killed it for me. It has no character and the N/A sounds MUCH BETTER... The only thing I liked in the 65 is the interior which is much cooler... To sum up... I love my car lol
