what is your usual oil change interval? maybe being in dubai = severe conditions = more frequent changes? maybe someone else from uae can chime in ...

Could also be a low oil level? My oil light came on once and I needed about 2 quarts to top it off. Now I'll make it a ritual to drop in 1 quart in the middle of services just for good measure (I'll check, of course, but 1qt seems to be the norm).

I too have to add/top off now and then, between oil changes. I do live in TX though and drive my car pretty hard. I would agree about the light being a "low oil level" indicator. Try adding some and see what happens.

It has been a standard practice for me now.

Well, warm up the engine and check the dipstick first. I'm just saying don't be surprised if you have to add oil in between intervals.

Well, of course warm it up and check the levels properly. We are all car nuts here, I was assuming that it was a given to check your engine and add/test any of the systems according to proper procedure.

And again, yes I agree. Do not worry or hesitate if you are having to add more oil between changes.

I had the same problem last weekend. Added half a quart of oil and the error went away.

(a)'12 C63 P/P, LSD, 19" m/spoke,comfort pack. (b)Astra SRI.
Question

I always check the oil level when it's cold....with the appropriate "cold" mark on the dipstick....that way, I know exactly how much oil is in the sump....I've always done it that way on all of my cars.
Cheers, Pickles.
