More than 451 HP no doubt but there's no reason to believe they can't achieve such an output with the N/A 5.5L. It's not exactly a high strung motor and neither was the 6.2L it replaces - 427 HP (in the SLK55) out of 5.5L hardly qualifies as earth shattering these days. A tweaked tune from the factory will probably yield another 30 HP easily, if not more.

The beancounters at MB will probably want to stick the N/A 5.5L in the C63 to make better use of mass production because as it stands, only the SLK55 is making use of it. Like everyone else though, I'd much rather they put the TT5.5L in there as it'd make my next car purchase decision that much easier!

AMG tuned M278.. bigger, vario-geom turbos and a higher rev limiter

or my pipe-dream M156 with DI, stop start and all that eco stuff to save it from the green people

If the next C AMG is around 3900+ pounds and the motor is the 5.5 NA with 450 ish hp and definitely less torque then I won't even give it the time of day for my next car. I would if they can get the next C AMG's weight down though. That might be an interesting car.

AMG's are German muscle cars. If they go that direction (smaller engine, lower torque, 450hp, lighter car) then it'll be an M car. Might as well just get an M3.

That's why I agree that they will look to using a detuned TT 5.5 in the next C AMG.

Yes
Have a pretty good hunch that we can expect the M157 folks.

Drove the new SL63, biturbo, let me tell you, it is unreal!

Blows the SLS away IMO. 2 people out of 20 preferred the SLS, while the rest liked the SL63.

The torque, the sound, the seats, everything about it was unreal.

drove one as well a few weeks ago at the amg touring event. really really amazing car. love the look and the way it handles. the SLS however was still the ultimate beast. louder than the SL and felt just fantastic.

who am i kidding, anyone of those two vehicles would look just fine and dandy in my garage lol

AMG GLC63. Audi R8
In the middle of a hp/tq race, MBZ is not about to back down. They make give up displacement but the will replace it with forced induction to exceed the prior M156 engine output. It's just bad marketing not to do so. However there is history that this may not work out. A used C43 commands a premium over its more powerful C32 supercharged successor.

(a)'12 C63 P/P, LSD, 19" m/spoke,comfort pack. (b)Astra SRI.
Question

So, whatever the engine, when are we likely to see the "New" C63, or rather, when will it be on sale?
Cheers, Pickles.

The 6.3 stay the best motor they've done!

I drive the new SL63 this week and m'y opinion Is that ok, on the highway its better, spécialy for the fuel saving but on the little road wit a lot of turn the 6.3 Is much better!

2003 c32
lets look at the history here c36,
got out done by the c43
ditto for c32
ditto for c55
ditto for c63

now lets look at what amg has been doing lately
they built a masterpiece 6.2 that also made it into there entry level cars in a detuned form

they also started a forced induction program for a smaller 5.5 that we now see in the cls and sl which makes more power and is offered with a performance package which boosts pressure from 14 to 18 psi netting 550 horsepower and torque hitting 590 (plus 47 hp and plus 74 lb ft ) on the seven speed transmission

now amg has always built motors that were capable of producing alot of horsepower, but because it has to be a refined, comfortable, reliable, efficient, economical, luxury car that mercedes has always stood for... amg has always gave us a detuned version of it

if you look at the history the only time they gave less motor was from the c43 to the c32 and they added 14 psi now there going from 6.2 to the 5.5 guess what? i betting my lunch money that they going to build one of the most amazing cars ever! and its coming with the whine of turbo chargers...

for the 4.0TT people... do you really think the new C AMG will be beat out by the best factory camaro and mustang in power/performance? if they do, the new C surely will not be in my garage. it makes zero sense from a marketing perspective regardless of all of this green bull****. they would be alienating their customer base which is the antithesis of what AMG performance stands for.
