Again, all 2010 and older are in the affected group. Last 5 digits of engine number need to be 60658 or higher.

Uh, that would depend on how many miles one drives since purchase. There's no known correlation between mileage and failure point.

Engine number is 156985 60 057903. It has old headbolts.

It's a 2010 so you don't even need to look up the engine number.

I’m getting it registered in my state and I can’t see the engine number properly. It’s impossible to see without the right tools unfortunately.

Any online VIN decoder will tell you the engine number. It took me 3 seconds. It’s156985 60 085643

The VIN is invalid. I guessed the error was the first character. I believe it should be "W". With that correction, the data shows up.

The engine number is 651921-33-803650

Unfortunately, the engine was built before the changeover. The engine number is 15698160047114 and is way before the change. I can only guess there was excess supply of the SL63 specific engines, and it took until way into the 2011 model year to work them through production.

Thank you again. I wanted to update the thread for any future owners of the car that I spoke with Mercedes of Plano and confirmed the head bolts were updated by the previous owner this year at the dealership. I didn't end up with the car after all. It was being sold by Autonation Audi in Plano. Great looking car but had a few issues with the biggest being a bent front wheel. The dealer sold the car while telling me they were going to fix the rim. Problem was no one wanted to repair the wheel in the Dallas area. Hope they disclosed the wheel issue to the new owner.
