CPO and Tire Wear... Anything?

Ok, so I hear our cars eat up rears, especially the Pirelli's.

I bought my CPO 2009 with "new tires" 5 months and 6000 miles ago and they are completely bald.

Do I have any angle to get something here?

sorry....that sounds about right for the stock pirellis, you're probably lucky to get that, depending on how you drove it.

do you do mostly city or hwy driving?

6k sounds ok to me too. our cars really are hungry for rear tires.

Highway... frequent acceleration...

My fronts are fine. I assume it ok to just start migrating to PSS in the rears only? Then replace the fronts next year?

Yes
Depends how serious you are about it - you're totally fine to put PSS in the rear until your fronts are worn. Forum jockeys will tell you you'll throw off the balance of the car, etc etc, but in reality for a DD that isnt being raced, really no big deal.

As for warranty concerns, you may be able to bring it up and out of the kindness of their hearts they give you another set, but 6k is totally normal for the OE Pirelli's. The Conti's last a little longer.

How do the PSS compare to the Conti's for wear?

Heck of a lot better.

My contis ran out at about 7k miles, I have PSS on now. Had them on my last 2010 also and had 8k miles on them when I traded them and probably another 2-3 to go..

Main thing with PSS is the warranty. Its 15k miles for staggered setup cars like ours. So you will get money back if you burn em up before.

I have PSS rear now with about 13,000 miles on them with Pirelli's up front. Not sure how much tread is left in the rears; I have not measured.

Pirelli rears lasted me 5,000 miles.

I think my Vreds are yielding about 10k miles for the rears. Crap keeps happening so I have had to replace them before they're bald.
