Going to DragStrip... what Trans Mode?
Hey guys... going to the strip with some friends tomorrow night. What have you found for the quickest times? Keep the car in S or M?
My Car is a C63 P31
Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Dave

Try S and paddle it down to S1. It is then supposed to shift at red line. Roll into it because if you hit it too hard and get spinning too much it might hit the limiter and the car will bog out before it shifts to second. ESP off. I am not a racer just going from what I have read.

Thanks Guys... tried both ways.. seems like a 1/4 of a mph better in Manual mode... ET relatively the same... both 12.2 @ 115+... 1800 DA here in AZ.
I was only able to get 1.9 60's no matter what I tried... any advice on launch techniques?
Thanks,
Dave

SCCA Are you running out at Firebird? Shoot me a PM if you are heading out again. I live 10 minutes from the track and would love to see a few runs. I am not ready to put mine on the track quite yet, still learning.
I am contemplating getting out in January when they have some of the events for NASA/SCCA on the race track.

Dave,
I assume your car is a 2011 or earlier. Start off in "S" mode and let the ECU make the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. Then change to "M" and hold 3rd as long as possible before the rev limiter. Unless you have the opportunity to practice a TON with the 1-2 and 2-3 the ECU will outperform you every time. However, the 3-4 is far enough out you can handle it.
I find my best times are from 1000-1200 stall. Mash the pedal just before you release the brake. Not simultaneaously.
Good luck and be safe!

Thanks guys! And Dad's... you're right... on most my runs I either shifted too late to 2nd (first pass) or too early... and it would shift at 6K or 6,500... so that sounds right... I was fine on 2-3, 3-4 And noticed when in S mode... the 3-4 shift wasn't as solid as the M mode.
So that's a good compromise.
Thanks,
Dave
