The C63 BS aero package is probably best factory body from AMG ever.

The Aero pkg has grown on me and I think it is the way to go if you get a BS.

It's just aesthetics. She can deal. It would be different if you were slamming it on race suspension or putting in a loud exhaust.

Let her drive it, she wont care after that!

My gf is always asking to drive my car and just confessed to taking ESP off and hammering it with her gf in the passenger seat...

Nows shes asking how fast its going to be with the blower on it and if she can drive it still lol.

Some in EU only use the front part of the aero pkg ( ie: no rear wing ).

Even if its kind of good looking , I don't know if its really safe however... I wouldn't mess with the car aero...

Anyone know if there is technical articles mentioning how much KG downforce is added with the front splitters and rear wing?

This is the only reference to it that I've seen, from last year:

http://media.daimler.com/Projects/c2...k_Series_e.doc

Optimum aerodynamic balance

The basic configuration of the C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series already impresses with its optimum aerodynamic balance. The combination of slight lift at the front and rear axles ensures a high level of driving stability in all driving conditions.

The AMG Aerodynamics package not only boosts the vehicle's appearance but also optimises its aerodynamics even further. The flics on the front apron – basically as found on the SLS AMG GT3 – as well as the integrated centre spoiler lip beneath the front splitter, combine to halve lift at the front axle. The carbon-fibre rear aerofoil is supported on aluminium elements on the on the boot lid and can be manually adjusted by the driver. This requires only a few simple steps, with two levels to choose from: level 1 with a pitch angle of 0 degrees creates what is referred to as "zero lift" at the rear axle; in level 2 with a pitch angle of 4 degrees, the aerofoil achieves effective downforce at the rear axle without the lift at the front axle increasing significantly. Level 2 is recommended when driving on the race track, where driving stability benefits from the higher negative lift force, particularly during fast cornering.

The aerodynamic balance of the vehicle is also further enhanced with the AMG Aerodynamics package, a fact which has been confirmed with tests in the wind tunnel and test drives on a variety of high speed routes. Furthermore, a glimpse at the aerodynamic data reveals that at aerofoil level 1, the AMG Aerodynamics package has barely any negative effect on the drag coefficient and air resistance.

I have been vocal about this, but it is purely my personal opinion. Things with cars, especially asthetics, are just so personal. I dont like the big wing in the back. I think it looks equally awkward on some of the Ferrari, Aston Martin or any other pretty coupe body style. Just looks like a bolted on afterthought to me, even though its not. I think it looks fine on, say, a GT3RS. For track use, people here could comment on what a big difference the aerokit makes on a 4k lb car in terms of performance. For me, its not enough to offset the asthetic that I dont personally like. Your mileage may vary of course...

You do have a valid point. It makes no sense to buy a C63 BS with aero package and garage queen it and drive only on sunny days to the local golf club.

This thing needs to stretch its legs on the track

Get the Aero package while you can.
You don't want to pay to retrofit it later, trust me.

IMO the aero kit is too much, but I would still buy it.

Well I dont play golf. But I do drive it around the Texas hill country backroads on sunny weekend days, which, if I imagine it a little colder with some snow sprinkled around, reminds me of certain parts of Germany

I just will have to take your word that the average driver will be able to recognize any material difference with a 4k lb car on a track from having that wing vs. not having it... again, no disrespect meant to anyone, its a very personal choice thing...
