Front, left dash rattle
I think by now, I've had MB WC and my body shop look at this thing about 4 times. I thought it was coming from where the dash touched the speaker cover since if I put any pressure on either spot, the noise would stop. However, after further investigation by my body shop guy, he thinks the rattle is coming from INSIDE the dash. It's only a mildly annoying and happens maybe 60% of the time. If I'm accelerating enough or have the stereo up, it gets drowned out, but I still know it's there.
So my question is, do I just live with it, or risk making things worse by opening up the dash?

Tough call.
I'm not so sure I'd be comfortable opening the dash, but if it was annoying enough I wouldn't rule it out.
Anyone else open their dash and have any problems or noises after?

On one of the other "creaks" and "noises" threads, I heard horror stories about some folks eliminating a rattle only to find another one after they took apart the dash. That's what makes me take pause.
This one isn't as bad as the rear sunshade was/is, but it's noticeable. I was thinking about mounting something there like a dash cam so that it could stick to the window and hold the pieces down. Lame, but my body shop guy said if he tried to adhere the pieces together, it would ruin the parts if they ever needed to access the dash.

I'm not having my dash "dismantled".

Oh, man. I have so many rattles that I've decided to just live with them. No matter how many I try to get rid of, others crop up. I think it's a product of our rougher suspensions just loosening stuff up.

I have taken apart dashes on several makes and models of vehicles and I assure you you will have more noises once it is pulled apart and put back together. While dashes can be removed, they are not meant to be. You will never achieve the same fit and finished as the factory.

Couple of months ago, there were noises from 2 sources. One was creaking of driver seat which was terrible and second was jarring/rattle near the dash on the passenger side. Both the noise have miraculously disappeared! Maybe a result of temperature change? Not sure.

I have the same rattle. I was just thinking about taking the car in for it too. It's extremely noticeable when I change lanes and pass over the lane dividing bumps. Awful!
Glad to see this thread though. I thought I was the only one. I thought it might be that my OBDII plug cover was not locked in properly, but that definitely wasn't the problem.
