Stock AMG wheels vs After Market

I had a dealer tell me that the after market wheels were not of the quality of the original wheels. Of course they want $1200 just to have my stockers plated when I can get them done for half of that. I'm looking at a couple of "Power Wheels Pro" wheels I really like. I need your advice please.

That dealer is smoking crack. You almost get what you pay for. Sure, the company that makes OEM wheels probably makes them for other companies, but there are guy out there like HRE, Volk, ADV, etc. who make top notch wheels. If aftermarket wheels weren't better in some way, why would just one wheel possibly cost as much as a set of OEMs? I'm not knocking the OEM wheels, I'm just saying that statement about quality is categorically untrue.

Depends what aftermarket wheels you are speaking of. Cheap Chinese crap which basically is any company that has a cast one piece wheel. Obviously besides HRE and people who are actually cncing in house and actually isn't a ****ty cast. Any forged wheel is your best bet. But if you want to compare your OEM cast wheel to a aftermarket crappy cast then yes the OEMis a lot better

There's no point in replacing your OEM wheels with a lower quality aftermarket wheel. Look at the aftermarket wheel thread, it should give you an idea of reputable wheel manufacturers.

Power wheels pro makes replicas of wheels. Replicas are usually a lower quality than the real thing.

A lot of manufacturers in that thread are great balances of price and performance. There are less expensive rims that probably aren't as well made. Conversely, there are much more expensive rims that may not necessarily perform better than others.

I don't want you to make your wheel choice on price, but $4-7k seems to be a pretty sweet spot for value.

Agree, there are "wheels", & there are "wheels"...and there are some really "average" aftermarket wheels out there.....so the secret is, ya gotta make sure ya're getting a quality wheel, not just one that looks good.
Cheers, Pickles.

I am no expert on wheels but the OEM wheels help the C63 stand out from the C class crowd in a big way! If you want to get after market, go for the real deal like HRE's. i have seen coolbdphenom03's HRE's in person and i can vouch for the fact that they look stunning and worth every $

Haha, thanks Sid! Actually I think you can add the AMG rims to a standard C-class.
