I detest the single bar grille
I would prefer the grille you would have to but on Amazon.

I love the new grille. The current one makes the E class look like an old mans car. It needs a sharper, more athletic look and it seems to be getting it.

Maybe they want to push the older E class buyers up to the S class?

I am just back from the dealer and I have confirmation from Germany that the CLS63 will also be available with 4matic. The new E and CLS is going to be epic.
I can't wait for a super sedan comparo (PTTS, Audi RS7, M5 and E/CLS63).
I have therefore pushed my order to a 2014 model to be coming around August.
Miro: I owe you for posting this as I would have been so disappointed to take delivery in March and get to know that I could have waited 5 months to get a car about 1/2 sec quicker to 60.
I wonder how much this option will cost or if it will be standard??? The article state the hp bump option of the PP will be gone so maybe there will not be that much of a difference in price.
The wait is going to kill me...

The rest of the car is unchanged so all this is adding is a bit of weight (not good obviously) offset by 25hp.
I cannot foresee the new one being inferior to the current one and here's an excerpt from car and driver
"it is actually quicker on the track than our previous rear-drive configuration.”

Brother...i would've felt the exact same way....no matter what you are going to end up with an insane machine on your driveway...the 2014's are going to be epic...the added traction is going to make the car seem alot faster...no matter how much incremental weight it adds.

If I were you, go to the dealership and take out a CLS550 4Matic. I know the 63 has more power and a tighter suspension, but the level of grip on the standard 4Matic is magical. Normally, where you feel your C63, starting to let go at the limit, the 4matic keeps grip strong and charges harder.

F10 M5 vs 2014 E63 AMG

So the 2014 E63 AMG will have 550HP? And the new F10 M5 comes with 560HP?

How is AMG suppose to compete? I thought the 2014 AMG has 575HP? What'd i miss?

Article says the 2014 E63 will have 575hp, with no 'performance pack' option to increase power.

And with 4WD the E63 will compete just fine!

I wonder if the 4matic system on the CLS550 allows for more power to go to the front than would be available on the E/CLS63?

Standard 4Matic supposedly allows 70% of torque to go to the front wheels if required, where the new car will have a max of only 33.3%

There's no wondering, the CLS550 can go 70/30 or 30/70, so it can dump much more power to the front wheels than the rear wheels. Not that it really matters for winter traction (if that's what you're looking for from your post), because my 911 Turbo was RWD and could only go dump 10% of power max to the front once the rears are spinning, and it was a rocket in winter.

The CLS550 4matic is kinda crappy over the limit. The 911 turbo was a blast to drive sideways. I think I jumped the gun a year too early here on the CLS550, really wanting a E63 or CLS63 now.

I plan to drive my E63 all year. I'm sure it'll be fine in Calgary's relatively mild winters. I am used to the 4matic system on my wife's C350, but they say it took AMG two and a half years to develop the 4matic for AMG purposes... I'm sure it'll be good in the snow too.

If you're gonna sell your CLS do it before the new car is available!

AWD is not coming on the C63 in 2014 per our call with Germany. Just the E, CLS and S.

The standard 4matic is great for winter driving, but it's terrible if you want to pretend to be a rally star. I have some go-pro footage of me trying to have fun in the CLS with ESP off, and it felt like I was out of control half the time lol.

Any AWD setup will be good enough for our winters, they're kinda mild. I'm more interested in how well it drifts in the snow haha. From reading the previews so far, looks like it'll be awesome.

Are you looking at the sedan or wagon for next year?

My CLS is the 550 4matic, so it's carry over for next year. In any case, selling a 2 month old CLS550, I'm going to take a huge bath on that. I'll just suck it up, and drive it for another winter and get rid of it after 2 years and hop into an E63 wagon. My dog will be so happy haha.

I'm going to get the sedan. Most of the driving I do is just me in the car. There would be a few instances where the space in the trunk would help, but I don't *need* all that space in this vehicle, and my kids will fit fine in an E class. We also have an ML350 that I use on days like today that that can do the heavy hauling if required.

I really feel this is the next car for me, but I keep seeing these creampuff R8 V10s on autotrader for like ~125k. Tempting as I really liked that car when I drove it on the track in Vegas. I don't think I have it in me to be seen in a car like that every day though, not yet anyway.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
It wouldn't take too long for 4matic to show up for C63. Even the CLA is going to have it. You better pray for an aggressive variable split 4matic or else your fun will be all over.

Looking forward to the comparison
One thing with the Audi , they almost always use a cast iron block making the motor very solid. And the AWD system that's 2nd to none.

As stated in the test, the AMG gearheads have worked on the 4matic system extensively and it appears that the car is still tail happy . We will obviously have to wait for some more testing.
