GEICO just raised my premium. U 2?

They just raised it by 160 bucks a year and said it was due to the fact that the 3rd party that they use to evaluate car models recently upgraded my car ('09 C63) from a standard vehicle to high performance. This doesn't make sense and sounds like BS as everyone knows AMG is high performance. Anyone else experience this recently?

Mine jumped up too by a similar amount. Slightly annoying but not enough to figure out why

That's like $11/mo. But I'm always game for shopping around. I went with AAA to cover my aftermarket parts without having to take out a separate coverage policy.

I got a small bump about a year ago... they upgraded the repair costs/parts on my 997.2TT. I was happy that I even had a cheaper premium prior.

It is what it is--- just the cost of ownership.

2012 CTS-V
I'm not with Geico but I received a $280 credit for the year for switching from a 2010 C63 to a 2012 CTS-V.

I HATE GIECO.

Everything from their rates to their stupid constant in-your-face ads...

Woah, how many tickets, accidents, and DUI's have you gotten to get a rate that high?!

Sorry, but that really does suck pretty bad.

Depends a lot of factors, when I moved to a different state my premiums went up. Try esurance, they were the cheapest for me and I got like 10 quotes lol

You have to request that coverage. And most insurance companies only have a $5k cap so then you'd have to decide which parts you want to cover. Rims? CF? Front OR rear of the car?

You are a risk of some extreme sort to have such a premium or your just packing all of us. 3 of my cars are less than that for an entire year and thats with 7-8 figure balloon coverages.

Earlier this year they bumped my premium by $60 per year...which sucks but is pretty negligible in principle.

From what I've gathered based on his previous posts, he's a pretty young guy (21?) and has a number of traffic tickets/moving violations. That said, $600 per month sounds about right.

Its true that they always underestimated rates on AMG
I was shocked when the premium on my car going from a C230 to a C32 only went up $12 for 6 months. I paid half of what my insurance agent paid for her M3 vert.

I have all my points, $500 ded comprehensive, $1000 collision. No accidents,No DUI. Reckless driving but dismissed. And that's with the good student discount (lol) Only 3 companies accepted to insure my car full coverage. Most of the companies wanted to give me liability only... So I'm sticking with state farm. Also, the reason why my premium is so high is because I'm 20 and I got my american license in 2011... If I had my license when I was 16, I believe my premium would be much cheaper. I'm expecting to pay way less when I'm gonna turn 21.

Ah, I see. Makes sense then.

And I find it funny how the OP's C63 got classed as a standard vehicle in the first place. Our cars are anything but standard. Lol.

I just heard bad things about Geico, I remmember switch to Geico 1 1/2 year ago, I ask about 4 times if the rate they quote will be the rate I will pay with no change, sure they say is a firm quote every time I ask, then I switch, cancel my old policy.... guess what... my first month bill came with $200 more... (no tickets, no accidents, multi car discount, good driver discount) I call, I cancel this policy, back to my old insurance... I heard is a common practice from Geico.

Im actually on the opposite end of this---- been with them for 5 years---- I pre quote all of my purchases (and I buy a lot of cars) and their quotes are always as stated. Where they get a little creative in the quote process is that they add some extra "optional" stuff like Mechanical Breakdown Protection, Rental, and Medical. I just unclick these and move on.

I use the internet to get their quotes so its in writing.

There was this insurance company that was the first to be online
they offered printing out your contract,id cards etc...
YOu could get approved in minutes. I forget who it was.

But i bought a policy and they changed three times in the first two months. And I had a perfect record.
I cancelled and went back to Progressive.
