Installed painted side markers and found rock chips

These were very easy to install, took about 10 minutes for both. I painted the bulb black as it was still bleeding through a bit. I was inspecting the car and found very tiny rock chips, like pitting in the paint right before the rear wheel where the back door & rear panel meet. This was on both sides, just wanted to see if this was a common issue on these cars?

Would be from lots of mini stone chips/road dust being flung back by the front wheels and catching the "lip" in front of the rear wheel arch.
I had similar issue with my old E46 M3 - think it is an "ownership hazard" of cars with flared wheel arches and wide tyres. You could think about some sort of adhesive wrap to protect it from getting worse.

2009 Barolo red C63 AMG (SOLD).13' P31 c63 coupe 2012 porsche panamera
Yeah, very common with our cars. Maybe a clear bra? My panamera came with it from factory, I wonder why mb hasn't done the same. Anyways, wrap would be very benificial in the long run, my car is 10x worse than yours but its not that obvious since my car is barolo red. It really shows on the white.

I have the same issue with my c63 amg. The dealership recommended wet sanding where the chips are bad. Then applying a protective sticker to prevent further damage. Any comments on wet sanding and applying a sticker as solutions?

What paint did you use to paint the bulbs? And did you see any light bleed through after painting them? I would think the bulb holder would get too hot if you painted the bulb and heat couldn't dissipate properly.

Depending on the depth of the chips, wet sanding will not work if the chips have busted through the clearcoat.

That said, all leading edges of any car tends to be where the paint is weakest, and forward motion through dirt dust and the occasional rock is like sand blasting it.

Where'd you get the painted markers? Evosport is out of business right?

Got mine from evosport 1 year ago.
I would say the easiest way would be to buy new or used OEM sidemarkers and get them painted color match your car. That is basically what evosport was doing if I'm not wrong
