What's with all the excitement over the AWD? Let me tell you from experience AWD has many draw backs. The biggest being the ability to drag the car. What I mean by saying this is that the weakest point of the cars will go out. From experience it's always been 1 gear. The weight is also an issue. Audi has one of the best AWD systems out and that was always the issue when you put power to it. Good and bad with everything I guess

99.9% sure with twins on the 4.0 liter, it will feel like a naturally aspirated 7.0 liter. Only time a turbo will run out of air is when they are too small for a particular application. Smaller displacement motors are more likely to rev higher, depending on stroke, camshaft and head flow. I'm sure the new TT4.0L with be a screamer.

100% agree with you, my 2.7 tt s4 was featured in the euro tuner mag. With a software flash the car just woke up but the turbos blow after 8k miles. And yes with only 17 on boost. After a turbo upgrade the car came out of the hole like no other but still ran of power on the top end simply due to weight and other factors. On take offs i had to be careful and make sure to never spin the wheels or I would hurt the trans due to the AWD system. Guys are now putting single turbo conventions but then you create more lag. It's funny because its too early to know what the long term impact on a flashed new e63 will be in terms of turbos. Keep in mind everyone told me your turbos will be fine, only to find out everyone was blowing turbos with some miles on the cars. I hate to say it but it all depends on what you want. If you want a really fast car go get a supra , I just think that these cars have way to many limitations and are not and will never be a true sports car. I know I may upset a few but this is how I feel. I love my AMG but also understand its limitations.

One more thing, good luck with blown turbos under warranty if the ecu was flashed... I know Audi would was very firm on making sure the car was not flashed and Audi is usually pretty soft. I can't even think how hard MB will be.

And also let's hope it's not one of those AWD system where you need to replace all the other tires if you ruin one of them.

my wife bananas! :D
i wouldnt mind the AWD system in the c63 amg only because i use mine as a DD. I only track a few times a year so the DD ability for me is more important (don mind sacrificing a bit of the performance end). The AWD would make the car that much better to handle the snow we got last week.

however, I would like MB to offer both RWD and AWD platforms, would be nice.

And to expand on that idea, how about a fully adjustable 4Matic system which you can turn off and get 100% to the rear wheels or turn on when you want more grip

The CLA is supposed to get a similar system. Though it's fwd biased.

LOL. Like comparing John Holmes to Pee Wee Herman.

I just need to convince the wife that strapping on the blower on the "Last Big V8" is a smart economical choice than trading in and buying the new W205 AMG.

C63, C55 (Sold)
I had both Subaru WRX and STi, both with AWD. On rainy days, those were a blast: Going flat out on highways with non-banked curves and turns when the others had to lift off the throttle. However, the AWD has its drawbacks, specially the weird feeling that they lose power at high speeds (like on 3rd and 4th gears). That is why I switched to RWD cars.

I'll have to test drive the new C40/45/63 and come up with viable conclusions. For now, we can discuss possibilities.

Yes, I have always told myself that a STi would be the car if I ever need a back-up car to compliment my AMG. It's hard to beat a STi on a slippery surface.

Turbo is chicken way out and same as everyone else. Come on MB strip out the pork , about 1000 lbs, and give us a nasty NA 4.0 litre.
