I have my whole E55 dipped and it has held it together very well. Been I think 3 months now and snow, rain or sun it's just fine. I was restoring my headlights once and the sand paper slipped to the side and ripped off the tape and I was like ah ! but the dip took all the damage and paint was fine underneath. I have 7 coats though and paid around 650 to get it done.

I wouldn't do my exhaust or my calipers , I am sure it can hold up to that temperatures but if it does burn, the burning rubber smell would be bad.

In the last pic the rim has tear marks because I got the winter tires put on, and if it wasn't for the dip I would have scratches on the rim instead.
And oh yes I did get a lot hatred and criticism lol

I've plastidipped my exhaust and it's held up just fine. I did it a year or so ago. I also did my lower rear bumper and its held up through rain and hot days without weathering or cracking.

i've plastidipped my exhaust tips and no problems...

i've powdercoated them before and they started to chip...

ceramic coating was suggested but would cost 300-500 for tips or tips and muffler...

the cost difference is crazy... what i'm going to try next is using the glossifier so it's a glossy black finish instead of the matte black...

Please post pics of the glossifier when you do it. I've plastidipped all the chrome on my car and wonder if the glossifier really will make it gloss and how it will look. Also will it be any harder to remove?

my wife bananas! :D
personally, plastidip itself is not an issue and the cost is advantageous.

But for anyone that is going this route, you must also commit to the aftercare of it. nothing looks as bad and as cheap as plastidip ripping off a car. I saw a blue hyundai genesis the other day with matte black plastidip. the dip was peeling so half of most panels were the matte black with the original blue showing. looked hideous.

I personally dont have time or the effort to take care of something like this. As well, my C63 is a DD so I drive it in the winter months.

afaik it's the exact same process as putting on plastidip... you're just putting on a glossy clear coating... so it wouldn't make it harder to remove... it would actually make it easier since you're essentially putting on more layers... typically the more coatings, the easier it is to remove...
