Mercedes Mirror Marauders
Well, these are some photos of a friend of mines E550 stolen mirrors. I nicked one of my mirrors one time and they said I was lucky that I didnt crack the mirror cause the mirror plate was 1100 bucks The insurance agent said that this is becoming an increasing trend among Mercedes owners. Be mindful of where you park your cars or the Marauders my strike. The estimate for both mirrors was just shy of 3000 dollars
You can see where they used wire cutters, so it wasnt just some act of random vandalism.

Ya!
Now everyone is scared to take there Mercedes out past dark. I had to take mine out last night cause I loaned my other car to a friend and I found myself going out and checking on my car periodically. Sucks cause Im nervous about it all the time. And this was done in a really nice part of town....its not like we are hanging out in the crime ridden areas.

Makes me all the more ready to buy a dash cam and have it hardwired so I can try to capture any idiots. If it makes you feel better, my hood got keyed in a movie theater parking garage around Xmas.

I'm so lucky I live in Dubai. Hell, I can leave my car running and go into a mall or gas station and come back out and you can be guaranteed it will still be there whether 2 minutes or 20.

No, they are just regular mirrors. I would guess that you could sell the mirror plates for 3 to 5 hundred bucks cause Mercedes charges over a grand for oem.

Hopefully the thieves in Dubai get some old school punishment and get their hands chopped off.
That's just nuts...the MB price of those parts and the circumstances of the theft. At least you have cameras. I asked the security guard in the garage and he said there were only cameras at the entrance/exit.

Should be able to buy them back off Ebay. Give it a week or so.
I can see the ad now: "for sale near new mirrors from an E series Merc, found by the side of the road, must have fallen off the back of a truck..."

In Qatar, i've left my car ON for about 30-45 minutes while i was getting a few things, no one dares or even thinks about stealing. They dont chop off your hands either, maybe jail time. Even supercars, i've seen a ton just empty with the engine on and door wide open. People even leave their house front doors open during the day.But i'd never dare do that here in VA, i try to hide my car so it doesn't get much attention, but its actually pretty safe, never had my car keyed or anything.
